Machakos County Governor
The Machakos County Governor is the chief executive of the Machakos and the various agencies and departments over which the officer has jurisdiction, as prescribed in the Republic of Kenya Constitution 2010. It is a directly elected position, votes being cast by popular suffrage of residents of Machakos County. The governor is responsible for enacting laws passed by the Machakos County Assembly. Machakos is one of the 47 devolved governments in the Republic of Kenya. Wavinya Ndeti
Wavinya Ndeti (born 8 November 1967) is a Kenyan politician and a business woman who is serving as the 2nd Governor of Machakos County. She previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Kathiani Constituency in the 10th Kenyan parliament and an assistant minister in the ministry of youth affairs and sport from 2008 to 2013. She was the first woman to be elected as a member of parliament in Machakos county since independence. She was a CCU candidate in 2013 and WDM-K candidate in 2017 for Machakos Governor. Machakos County
Machakos County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, which came into being because of the devolved system of governance occasioned by the 2010 constitution of Kenya. The country's first administrative headquarters are in Machakos Town, which is the largest town in the county. The county had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. The county borders Nairobi and Kiambu counties to the west, Embu to the north, Kitui to the east, Makueni to the south, Kajiado to the south west, and Muranga and Kirinyaga to the north west. Alfred Mutua
Dr. Alfred Nganga Mutua (born 22 August 1970) is a Kenyan journalist and politician who has been serving as Cabinet Secretary of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs under President William Ruto since 27 October 2022. Prior to joining the government, Mutua served as the 1st Governor of Machakos County for two terms, from 2013 to 2017 and from 2018 to 2022. He was the Kenyan government's spokesman before resigning in 2012 to run for the Machakos County Gubernatorial race.
