The Macau Security Force (, ) is Macau's public security body under the Secretariat for Security, responsible for handling government activities ranging from law enforcement to public safety. History In 1975, the MSF was created to take the place of the Macau Independent Territorial Command, which was in charge of Portuguese military forces in charge of the colony's military security. Portuguese military involvement were removed in 1995 and were replaced by Macanese officers recruited to the MSF. On December 20, 1999, the various police force branches of Macau (Security Forces of Macau and Judiciary Police), under the jurisdiction of Security and Justice departments (except the customs police, who were reassigned to the Financial Service Department) were assigned to the MSF, under the supervision of the secretary of security (security department). Fire Services Bureau
The Fire Services Bureau (; pt, Corpo de Bombeiros, CB) is responsible for fire and rescue services in Macau. Volunteer fire brigades in Macau dates back to 1851 and full-time department in 1883. Prior to 1851, the Portuguese military provided fire services in the colony. In 1999, the CB became a fully civilian agency. Today the department is organized under the Macau Security Force (since 1976 after decades as a division of public works, Leal Senado and municipal control). The brigade is responsible for fire and rescue for both land and air. Lai Minhua
Lai Minhua, Chinese: (January 1959 - 30 October 2015) was a police officer from Macau, who was Director General of Macau Customs Service. According to official sources, she died by suicide in 2015, however doubt has been cast over this verdict. Early life and education Lai was born in January 1959 in Macau, but her family originate from Guangdong. She graduated from Macau Security Force Higher School with a BA in Police Science and went on study for a MA in Public Administration from Sun Yat-sen University. Career Lai joined the Macau Public Security Police Force in April 1984. She moved to the Marine Police Inspection Team the following year as a second-class officer. People's Liberation Army Macau Garrison
The People's Liberation Army Macao Garrison is a garrison of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), responsible for defense duties in the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) since the sovereignty of Macau was transferred to China in 1999. The PLA stations between 500 and 600 troops in Macau, primarily as a symbolic presence to underscore Chinese sovereignty. The remainder of the 1,200-strong Macau garrison resides just across the Chinese border in Zhuhai.
