''MMXII'' ("''2012''" in Roman numerals) is the fourteenth studio album by English post-punk band Killing Joke, released on 2 April 2012 by Spinefarm Records, distributed worldwide by Universal Music Group. Recording and production Following up the 2010 release of ''Absolute Dissent'', Killing Joke's original lineup of Jaz Coleman, Geordie Walker, Martin "Youth" Glover and Paul Ferguson worked on the new album in 2011, writing and recording about twenty-six tracks, mainly at The Doghouse Studio, Oxfordshire, England. The album, produced by the band, was programmed, engineered, mixed by Clive Goddard, Tom Dalgety, Michael Rendall, with additional work by Reza Udhin at Studio Faust Records in Prague, Czech Republic. Making guitar overdubs were avoided. Killing Joke
Killing Joke are an English rock band from Notting Hill, London, England, formed in 1979 by Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards), Paul Ferguson (drums), Geordie Walker (guitar) and Youth (bass). Their first album, '' Killing Joke'', was released in 1980. After the release of '' Revelations'' in 1982, bassist Youth was replaced by Paul Raven. The band achieved mainstream success in 1985 with both the album '' Night Time'' and the single " Love Like Blood". The band's musical style emerged from the post-punk scene, but stood out due to their heavier approach, and has been cited as a key influence on industrial rock. Axis Of Rotation
Rotation around a fixed axis is a special case of rotational motion. The fixed- axis hypothesis excludes the possibility of an axis changing its orientation and cannot describe such phenomena as wobbling or precession. According to Euler's rotation theorem, simultaneous rotation along a number of stationary axes at the same time is impossible; if two rotations are forced at the same time, a new axis of rotation will appear. Pole Shift Hypothesis
The cataclysmic pole shift hypothesis is a pseudo-scientific claim that there have been recent, geologically rapid shifts in the axis of rotation of Earth, causing calamities such as floods and tectonic events or relatively rapid climate changes. There is evidence of precession and changes in axial tilt, but this change is on much longer time-scales and does not involve relative motion of the spin axis with respect to the planet. However, in what is known as true polar wander, the Earth rotates with respect to a fixed spin axis. Research shows that during the last 200 million years a total true polar wander of some 30° has occurred, but that no rapid shifts in Earth's geographic axial pole were found during this period. Industrial Rock
Industrial rock is a fusion genre that fuses industrial music and rock music. The Age of Aquarius, in astrology, is either the current or forthcoming astrological age, depending on the method of calculation. Permaculture is an approach to land management and settlement design that adopts arrangements observed in flourishing natural ecosystems. It includes a set of design principles derived using whole-systems thinking. The 2012 phenomenon was a range of eschatological beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events would occur on or around 21 December 2012.
