MANRS
MANRS ("Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security") is an Internet Society-supported activity aimed at securing global Internet routing. Its main participants are Internet Service Providers (ISPs), cloud providers, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). Members of MANRS include: * Network Operators like Workonline Communications, Telcom Internet, Backspace Technologiers (and more). * Internet Exchange Points like France IX, NIX.CZ, NAPAfrica (and more). * CDNs and Cloud Providers like Amazon, Cloudflare, Facebook, Google, and Netflix. MANRS also operates the MANRS Observatory, a service that monitors the Internet for routing problems. IP routing is the application of routing methodologies to IP networks. This involves not only protocols and technologies but includes the policies of the worldwide organization and configuration of Internet infrastructure. In each IP network node, IP routing involves the determination of a suitable path for a network packet from a source to its destination in an IP network. Internet Exchange Point
Internet exchange points (IXes or IXPs) are common grounds of IP networking, allowing participant Internet service providers (ISPs) to exchange data destined for their respective networks. IXPs are generally located at places with preexisting connections to multiple distinct networks, ''i.e.'', datacenters, and operate physical infrastructure ( switches) to connect their participants. Organizationally, most IXPs are each independent not-for-profit associations of their constituent participating networks (that is, the set of ISPs which participate at that IXP). The primary alternative to IXPs is private peering, where ISPs directly connect their networks to each other. A content delivery network, or content distribution network (CDN), is a geographically distributed network of proxy servers and their data centers. The goal is to provide high availability and performance by distributing the service spatially relative to end users. CDNs came into existence in the late 1990s as a means for alleviating the performance bottlenecks of the Internet as the Internet was starting to become a mission-critical medium for people and enterprises. France-IX is a Paris-based Internet exchange point (IXP) founded in June 2010 as a membership organisation. it interconnects more than 496 members, making it the largest IXP in France.
