Mário Schenberg
Mário Schenberg (born Mayer Schönberg ar. ''Mário Schönberg'', ''Mario Schonberg'', ''Mário Schoenberg'' 2 July 1914 – 10 November 1990) was a Brazilian electrical engineer, physicist, art critic and writer. Early life Schenberg was born in Recife, Brazil as Mayer Schönberg. His parents were Russian Jews of German origin. From early on he showed remarkable ability for mathematics, enchanting himself with geometry, which had a strong influence on his works. He took the primary and secondary courses in Recife. Because of his family's financial limitations, he was not able to study in Europe. He then entered the Faculty of Engineering of Recife in 1931. Madelung Equations
In theoretical physics, the Madelung equations, or the equations of quantum hydrodynamics, are Erwin Madelung's alternative formulation of the Schrödinger equation for a spinless non relativistic particle, written in terms of hydrodynamical variables, similar to the Navier–Stokes equations of fluid dynamics. The derivation of the Madelung equations is similar to the de Broglie–Bohm formulation, which represents the Schrödinger equation as a quantum Hamilton–Jacobi equation. In both cases the hydrodynamic interpretations are not equivalent to Schrodinger's equation without the addition of a quantization condition. Recently, the extension to the relativistic case with spin was done by having the Dirac equation written with hydrodynamic variables. Gravitational collapse is the contraction of an astronomical object due to the influence of its own gravity, which tends to draw matter inward toward the center of gravity. Gravitational collapse is a fundamental mechanism for structure formation in the universe. Over time an initial, relatively smooth distribution of matter, after sufficient accretion, may collapse to form pockets of higher density, such as stars or black holes. Star formation involves a gradual gravitational collapse of interstellar medium into clumps of molecular clouds and potential protostars. The compression caused by the collapse raises the temperature until thermonuclear fusion occurs at the center of the star, at which point the collapse gradually comes to a halt as the outward thermal pressure balances the gravitational forces. It is expressed as the ratio of the core mass to the total mass of the core and envelope. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar (; 19 October 1910 – 21 August 1995) was an Indian Americans, Indian-American theoretical physicist who made significant contributions to the scientific knowledge about the structure of stars, stellar evolution and black holes. He was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize in Physics along with William Alfred Fowler, William A. Fowler for theoretical studies of the physical processes of importance to the structure and evolution of the stars. Urca Casino
The Urca Casino was an internationally renowned Brazilian casino located in Urca, a neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. It operated from 1933 to 1946, when gambling was banned. History The building was built in 1922, initially housing the Balneário Hotel. It became a casino in 1933 and went through a period of adaptations and low attendance until businessman Joaquim Rolla won some of its shares in a card game. From then on, the Urca Casino experienced a boom and operated until 1946, when gambling was banned by President Dutra. From 1954 to 1980, after being purchased by Diários Associados, the building was adapted to accommodate TV Tupi's studios. George Gamow
George Gamow (sometimes Gammoff; born Georgiy Antonovich Gamov; ; 4 March 1904 – 19 August 1968) was a Soviet and American polymath, theoretical physicist and cosmologist. He was an early advocate and developer of Georges Lemaître's Big Bang theory.
