Mária Littomeritzky
Mária Littomeritzky (also known as ''Littomeritzky-Bognár''; May 12, 1927 – December 24, 2017) was a Butterfly swimming, butterfly swimmer from Hungary, who competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics for her native country, starting in Swimming at the 1948 Summer Olympics, 1948. She was born in Szeged. Her best individual result came in 1956, when she placed fourth in Swimming at the 1956 Summer Olympics – Women's 100 metre butterfly, 100 metres butterfly. At the 1952 Summer Olympics she started in the heats of the Swimming at the 1952 Summer Olympics – Women's 4 x 100 metre freestyle relay, 4×100 freestyle relay but was replaced for the final. Her team-mates Ilona Novák, Judit Temes, Éva Novák, Katalin Szőke won the final with a new world record and Littomeritzky also received a gold medal. Butterfly Swimming
The butterfly (shortened to fly) is a List of swimming styles, swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically, accompanied by the butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick") along with the movement of the hips and chest. It is the newest swimming (sport), swimming style swum in competition, first swum in the early 1930s and originating out of the breaststroke. Katalin Szőke
Katalin Szőke (17 August 1935 – 27 October 2017) was a Hungarian swimmer. She competed at the 1952 Olympics and won two gold medals, in the 100 m and 4 × 100 m freestyle events. Two years later she repeated that success at the 1954 European Championships. She also competed in these two events at the 1956 Olympics but without success. During her career Szőke set four world records. In 1985 she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Biography Szőke was born in Budapest to Márton Homonnai, an Olympic champion in water polo in 1932 and 1936. During World War II, her father was a policeman and a member of the Arrow Cross Party, which supported the Nazis. After the war, fearing prosecution (he was sentenced to death in absentia), he flew via Germany and Brazil to Argentina, where he died in 1969.
