''Mystery Date'' is a 1991 American dark comedy film directed by Jonathan Wacks, and starring Ethan Hawke, Teri Polo, and Brian McNamara. Shock-rockers Gwar have a brief cameo in the film. Plot Tom McHugh quickly learns that his perfect big brother Craig isn't all he's cracked up to be while on a night on the town with the girl next door, during which Tom is harassed by unpleasant strangers, threatened by mobsters, pursued by police, attacked by an irate florist, accused of murder, and has his date kidnapped—all because everyone thinks he's Craig...and the classic 1959 DeSoto Firesweep he borrowed off his brother has two dead bodies in the trunk. ''Mystery Date'' is a board game from the Milton Bradley Company released in 1965, conceived by Marvin Glass and created by Henry Stan. Marketed to girls 6 to 14 years of age, it has been reissued in 1970, 1999, and 2005. It is popularly referenced as a trope in TV and film. Gameplay ''Mystery Date'' can be played with two, three, or four players. The object of the game is to acquire a desirable date, while avoiding the "dud". Players acquire cards to assemble outfits in four different colors by rolling a die to move around the board, then drawing, discarding, or trading cards as dictated by the spaces where they land. After assembling a three-piece outfit in a single color, the player can open a large plastic "mystery door" set into the center of the board to reveal one of five different dates. These are the "formal dance" date, the "bowling" date (replaced by a "picnic" date in the 1970s version), the "beach" date, the "skiing" date, and the "dud", and are chosen at random by ... Tony Rosato
Antonio Rosato (26 December 1954 – 10 January 2017) was a Canadian actor and comedian, who appeared in television and films. He was best known as a cast member on both '' SCTV'' and ''Saturday Night Live'', and for voicing Luigi in '' The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3'' and ''Super Mario World''. Early life Antonio Rosato was born in Naples, Campania on 26 December 1954, and came to Canada at age four. He was raised in Halifax, Ottawa, and Toronto. He graduated from Oakwood Collegiate Institute. He planned to study chiropractic medicine, but dropped out of the University of Toronto after he began doing improv comedy at The Second City. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review aggregator, review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang.
