Musiqq
Musiqq is a Latvian pop music duo from Liepāja formed by Marats Ogļezņevs and Emīls Balceris. The duo first gained exposure in June 2009 with the release of their first single “Klimata kontrole”("Climate control"), but on October 1 their second single "Abrakadabra" came out, which was a radio hit in Latvia and "SEB Musical Bank 2009" winner. Their debut album "Šī ir tikai mūzika"("This is just music") was released in March 2010, which included radio hits such as "Abrakadabra", "Dzimšanas diena" ("Birthday") and "Klimata kontrole" ("Climate control"). Both singers were awarded as "Gada Liepājnieks"("Liepajnieks of the year" is a prize awarded for those, who have invested their time, effort and talent into making the city a better place) in nomination "'Music" and received three Copyright infinity prizes, because their songs are the most played on the radio, television and concerts. Angel In Disguise (Musiqq Song)
Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Angel in Disguise" written by Marats Ogļezņevs. The song was performed by the duo Musiqq. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final ''Eirodziesma 2011'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2011 contest in Düsseldorf, Germany. Twenty songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of four shows: two heats, one Second Chance round and a final. In the heats, five entries were selected to advance from each show: three entries selected based on a public televote and two entries selected by a seven-member jury panel. In the Second Chance round, two entries were selected to advance: one selected based on a public vote and one selected by the jury. Twelve songs ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 26 February 2011 where two rounds of voting by the public and jury selected "Angel in Disguise" performed by Musiqq as the winner. Eurovision Song Contest 2011
The Eurovision Song Contest 2011 was the 56th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Düsseldorf, Germany, following the country's victory at the with the song "Satellite (Lena Meyer-Landrut song), Satellite" by Lena Meyer-Landrut, Lena. Brainstorm (Latvian Band)
Prāta Vētra, known internationally as Brainstorm, is a Latvian pop/rock band. The band became popular internationally in 2000 when they finished third in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song " My Star". History BrainStorm formation and first years (1989–1996) The band was formed in the summer of 1989 in Jelgava, Latvia by four former classmates – Renārs Kaupers, Jānis Jubalts, Gundars Mauševics and Kaspars Roga. Soon after, their classmate Māris Mihelsons also joined the band. In September 1992 Brainstorm released their first single "Jo tu nāc" (Because You Come) and finished 9th in the Latvian popular music contest, the "Microphones" poll. After this came their first album, ''Vairāk nekā skaļi'' (More than Loud) 1993.
