Museum Paul Delvaux
The Paul Delvaux Museum () is a private museum in Saint-Idesbald, Belgium, devoted to the life and works of the painter Paul Delvaux. It was established in 1982 by the Foundation Paul Delvaux and houses the world's largest collection of Delvaux's works. History In 1982, the Foundation Paul Delvaux took the initiative to establish the Paul Delvaux Museum, a private museum in Saint-Idesbald, Koksijde municipality, devoted to the painter Paul Delvaux (1897–1994). Delvaux had a personal connection to Saint-Idesbald and had built a house and studio in the style of a fishing cottage there in 1951. A driving force behind the museum was Delvaux's nephew Charles Van Deun, who on the foundation's behalf purchased Het Vlierhof, a former fisherman's cottage that had been enlarged into a hotel-restaurant. The Carnegie Library in Anaheim, California is a Carnegie library building built in 1908. The Classical Revival style building was designed by John C. Austin, and opened in 1909. It was a public library until 1963. During the 1970s it served as the personnel office for the City of Anaheim. It is now one of the buildings of the MUZEO, a museum of local culture, history and art. The Anaheim Carnegie Library was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. George Grard
George Grard (1901–1984) was a Belgian sculptor, known mostly for his representations of the female, in the manner of Pierre Renoir and Aristide Maillol, modelled in clay or plaster, and cast in bronze. Grard was born in Tournai to a family of modest means and entered the Académie de Tournai in 1915, but his real calling as a sculptor became apparent when he followed a course in sculpture in 1922 with Maurice De Korte (1889–1971). In his native city he met Pierre Caille, and later, in a Brussels foundry, Charles Leplae. Having won the Prix Rubens (1930), he left for Paris, where he encountered the sculpture of Charles Despiau, Aristide Maillol and Pierre Renoir, which influenced his mature style. In 1931, he set up his studio at Saint-Idesbald, non the coast, where his house became a rendez-vous of artists including Pierre Caille, the Haesaerts brothers, Edgard Tytgat, and Paul Delvaux.
