Mumba Yachi
Shadreck Mukenge (born June 14, 1986) better known by his stage name Mumba Yachi, is a Congolese musician based in Zambia. Career Mumba Yachi's love for music developed at a very young age. He grew up listening to Kalindula and Rhumba music. P. K. Chishala and Franco Luambo are said to be one of the people that inspired him to become a musician. In 2009, he began his singing career. Since then, he has been nominated and has won various awards. He has worked with many different Zambian artists such as Chef 187, Slapdee and many others. Kalindula
Kalindula is a kind of bass guitar which gives its name to a style of popular music in southern-central Africa. It originated in the late 20th century and is popular in Zambia and is also found in Malawi and Zimbabwe. Some people claim it originated in the Democratic Republic of Congo but this cannot be fully supported by the evidence. It combines features of 20th century popular music with rhythmic and metric elements. The kalindula musical style is characterized by an up-tempo rhythm and, in addition to the kalindula bass guitar, one or more hand-crafted guitars which are called 'banjos' (pronounced locally as 'bahn-jo'). François Luambo Luanzo Makiadi (6 July 1938 – 12 October 1989) was a Congolese musician. He was a major figure in 20th-century Congolese music, and African music in general, principally as the leader for over 30 years of TPOK Jazz, the most popular and significant African band of its time. He is referred to as Franco Luambo or simply Franco. Known for his mastery of African Rumba, he was nicknamed by fans and critics "Sorcerer of the Guitar" and the "Grand Maître of Zairean Music", as well as Franco de Mi Amor by female fans. Mwila Musonda (born April 27, 1987), known professionally as Slapdee, is a Zambian hip hop and rap musician. Having won multiple awards since his debut in 2006, he is often regarded one of the pioneers of Zambian hip-hop. Early life Slapdee was raised by his aunt, after losing his parents and brother. Because of his aunt’s career, he moved around often, even attending schools in Botswana and South Africa.
