Mule (band)
Mule was an American punk blues band from Michigan, active in the early 1990s. Formed by former members of Wig and Laughing Hyenas, their music incorporated elements of hardcore punk, blues-rock, and country music. History Mule formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1991, anchored by former Wig member P.W. Long. The band's other members, Kevin Munro and Jim Kimball, had been members of the Laughing Hyenas.Muleat Allmusic This lineup recorded the band's self-titled debut, which was produced by Steve Albini and released on Chicago record label Quarterstick Records itself a division of indie super label Touch and Go. Punk blues (or blues punk) is a music genre that mixes elements of punk rock and blues. After its genesis as a handmade fanzine in 1979, it grew into one of the key record labels in the American 1980s underground and alternative rock scenes. A quarter stick, colloquially known as the , is a large firecracker that falls within a range of dimensions roughly between and . These salutes typically carry 25grams of flash powder but in rare occasions have been measured and can contain upward to 30grams. Like the others, a piece of visco fuse 2to 4 inches protrudes from the end or side. The term ''quarter stick'' is based on a quarter-stick of dynamite, which it somewhat resembles. However, quarter stick firecrackers do not contain nitroglycerin as dynamite does, and have far less explosive power. Rough Trade Records is an independent record label based in London, England. It was formed in 1976 by Geoff Travis, who had opened a record store off Ladbroke Grove. It is currently run by co-managing directors Travis and Jeannette Lee and is affiliated with Beggars Group. Having successfully promoted and sold records by punk rock and early post-punk and indie pop bands such as the Normal and Desperate Bicycles, Travis began to manage acts and distribute bands such as Scritti Politti and began the label, which was informed by left-wing politics and structured as a co-operative. The Jesus Lizard
The Jesus Lizard is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 1987 in Austin, Texas by vocalist David Yow, guitarist Duane Denison and bassist David Wm. Sims. They relocated to Chicago, Illinois, in 1989, where they found kindred spirits in recording engineer Steve Albini and Touch and Go Records. With the addition of drummer Mac McNeilly, they began performing live and became "a leading noise rock band in the American independent underground music, underground…[who] turned out a series of independent records filled with scathing, disembowelling, guitar-driven pseudo-industrial rock, industrial noise." Carey Folk McNeilly Jr (born March 12, 1960), better known as Mac McNeilly, is an American musician, best known as the drummer for The Jesus Lizard. He also played drums in bands P.W. Long's Reelfoot, 86, Mouse, Come, Nadja, and played bass in Phantom 309. He is known for his very powerful, solid and hard-hitting style. ''The Denison/Kimball Trio'' (sometimes known as DK3) were a musical duo consisting of American guitarist Duane Denison and American drummer Jim Kimball. Their music was completely instrumental and heavily influenced by jazz, the avant-garde and movie scores. The group's debut album was the soundtrack to ''Walls in the City'', a short film directed by independent filmmaker Jim Sikora and featuring Jesus Lizard front-man David Yow in a bit role.
