Mr Brownstone
"Mr. Brownstone" is a song by the American rock band Guns N' Roses, featured on their debut studio album, ''Appetite for Destruction'' (1987). Group guitarists Slash and Izzy Stradlin wrote the tune while they were sitting around Stradlin's apartment complaining about their addictions to heroin, for which "Brownstone" is a slang term. Composition The lyrics make a clear reference to the tolerance that the drug causes: "I used to do a little, but a little wouldn't do it, so the little got more and more." They wrote the lyrics on the back of a grocery bag and brought it to Axl Rose. Slash said the lyrics describe a typical day in the life of Slash and Stradlin. He also states that it was the first song the band wrote after being signed by Geffen Records. Single release "Mr. Brownstone" was the first Guns N' Roses single released outside of the United States and appeared as the A-side of " It's So Easy" in the United Kingdom. Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985 as a merger of local bands L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose. When they signed to Geffen Records in 1986, the band's "classic" line-up consisted of vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash (musician), Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. ''Chinese Democracy'' is the sixth studio album by the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, released on November 23, 2008, by Black Frog and Geffen Records. It was the first Guns N' Roses studio album since the 1993 covers album ''"The Spaghetti Incident?"'', and their first album of original studio material since ''Use Your Illusion I'' and ''Use Your Illusion II, II'' (1991). It languished in development hell for eight years, delayed by personnel and legal problems, label interference, and the perfectionism of vocalist Axl Rose. "Shackler's Revenge" is a song by Guns N' Roses, and the second track on their sixth studio album, ''Chinese Democracy''. The song was released on September 14, 2008 in the ''Rock Band 2'' video game. The song was written by vocalist Axl Rose, guitarists Robin Finck and Buckethead, drummer Brain, producer Caram Costanzo and engineer Pete Scaturro. It was included as the b-side to the single "Chinese Democracy". Background Brain and Buckethead wrote the instrumental base of the song, dating back to a jam in their earliest days in Praxis. Guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal plays the solo on fretless guitar, some rhythm guitar, guitar in the pre-chorus, and the ending solo. The Virginia Tech shooting was a spree killer, spree shooting that occurred on Monday, April 16, 2007, comprising two attacks on the campus of the Virginia Tech, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States. Seung-Hui Cho, an undergraduate student at the university, killed 32 people and wounded 17 others with two semi-automatic pistols before committing suicide. Six others were injured jumping out of windows to escape Cho. Cho first shot and killed two people at West Ambler Johnston Hall, a dormitory. Cho Seung-hui (; ; ; January 18, 1984 – April 16, 2007), anglicized as Seung-Hui Cho, was a South Korean mass murderer who perpetrated the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007. Cho killed 32 people and wounded 17 others with two semi-automatic pistols on April 16, 2007, at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.
