Telupid
Telupid () is the capital of the Telupid District in the Sandakan Division of Sabah, Malaysia. History Telupid was first settled around 1940s and became the major route for the Sandakan Death Marches during World War II. At the time, it was mainly inhabited by the Dusun people. In 1968, as part of the wider Colombo Plan initiative, a major road begun to be constructed connecting Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu. Dubbed "Malaysian-Australian Road Project" (MARP), Telupid became the project's main office. The road was finally completed in 1978, making driving possible between the west and east coast of Sabah with relative ease. Since then, Telupid has become a major stopover point for travelers plying the road. From 2017, more development began to be carried out due to its strategic location in the middle of Sabah and its continued importance as a stopover point for travelers plying between the coasts of the state. Telupid District
The Telupid District () is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan and Tongod. The capital of the district is in Telupid Town. The district is formerly a part of Beluran District. History Telupid was firstly settled around 1940s and became the major route for the Sandakan Death Marches during World War II. At the time, it was mainly inhabited by the Dusun people. The present district was formed around 1965, shortly after Sabah became part of Malaysia. The district was developed following the agreement between the Australian and Malaysian government to jointly build road. Following the availability of road, a number of infrastructures start to be built there. Crocker Range
The Crocker Mountains () form a range that separates the West Coast and Interior divisions of Sabah, Malaysia. At an average height of , it is the highest mountain range in the state. It is named after a 19th century British administrator of North Borneo, William Maunder Crocker. Geology The mountain range is made up of uplifted and folded sedimentary rocks consisting of weathered soft sandstones and shales. The highest point is Mount Kinabalu at . The University of London Union (ULU), known as Student Central after 2014, was the students' union of the federal University of London.
