Motel California
''Motel California'' is the third album by the American rock band Ugly Kid Joe, and released on October 22, 1996. ''Motel California'' was the last full-length studio album until 2015. The group disbanded in January 1997 and reformed in 13 years later in January 2010. The album received lukewarm reviews and was a commercial failure. The title is a parody of the Eagles' album, ''Hotel California''. The song "Rage Against the Answering Machine" is a pun on the name of the Los Angeles rock band Rage Against the Machine. Production The album was recorded with the Butcher Bros., in Philadelphia. Ugly Kid Joe is an American hard rock band from Isla Vista, California, formed in 1989. The band's name spoofs the glam metal band Pretty Boy Floyd's name. To date, Ugly Kid Joe have released five full-length albums, two compilation albums and two EPs. Their best selling records are ''As Ugly as They Wanna Be'' (1991) and '' America's Least Wanted'' (1992), which were both certified double platinum by the RIAA; the former is notable for being the first EP to go platinum. The band broke up in 1997, but announced a reunion in 2010 and has ever since both reformed and recommenced activity. ''Hotel California'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band Eagles. Released on December 8, 1976, by Asylum Records, ''Hotel California'' was recorded by Bill Szymczyk at the Criteria and Record Plant studios between March and October 1976. It was the band's first album with guitarist Joe Walsh, who had replaced founding member Bernie Leadon, and the last to feature founding bassist Randy Meisner. The front cover is a photograph of the Beverly Hills Hotel by David Alexander. ''Hotel California'' topped the US ''Billboard'' Top LPs & Tapes chart. At the 20th Grammy Awards, the title track won Record of the Year, and " New Kid in Town" won Best Arrangement for Voices. Ian Fraser Kilmister (24 December 1945 – 28 December 2015), better known as Lemmy Kilmister or simply Lemmy, was an English musician. He was the founder, lead singer, bassist and primary songwriter of the rock band Motörhead, of which he was the only continuous member, and a member of Hawkwind from 1971 to 1975. A foundational force in the genre following the advent of the new wave of British heavy metal, Lemmy was known for his appearance, which included his signature friendly mutton chops, his military-influenced fashion sense and his gravelly rasp of a voice. James Shannon Larkin (born April 24, 1967) is an American musician, best known as the drummer of rock band Godsmack. He replaced the previous drummer Tommy Stewart in June 2002. Prior to Godsmack, he was a member of Amen, Candlebox, Ugly Kid Joe, and Souls at Zero (formerly Wrathchild America). Shannon played drums for Godsmack for their albums ''Faceless'', '' IV'', ''The Other Side EP'', ''The Oracle'', '' 1000hp'', and their latest album '' When Legends Rise''. Cordell Crockett (born January 21, 1965) is an American rock musician. Crockett is a multi-instrument artist known for playing bass guitar and singing backing vocals for the band Ugly Kid Joe from 1991 until they disbanded in 1997, and again since their reunion in 2010. Early Years and Education Born in Alameda County, California, the son of Jean Weston and Guitar Player magazine editor Jim Crockett, Cordell Crockett grew up in a musical household. Dave Fortman (born July 11, 1967) is an American record producer and musician. He is the guitarist for rock band Ugly Kid Joe, and has worked with bands such as Superjoint Ritual, Snot, Atomship, Eyehategod, Mudvayne, Otep, Slipknot (on their fourth studio album, titled ''All Hope Is Gone''), and Simple Plan, as well as on both of Evanescence's multi-platinum selling albums '' The Open Door'' and '' Fallen''. William Whitfield Crane IV (born January 19, 1968) is an American singer and founding member and lead vocalist of the rock band Ugly Kid Joe, which was formed in 1989. The Butcher Bros. is an American music production team made up of brothers Phil and Joe Nicolo, originally based out of Philadelphia in the mid-to-late '80s. Together and individually, the brothers have produced albums for a wide variety of bands, including Urge Overkill, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Amy Grant, Cypress Hill, Nine Inch Nails, Dog Eat Dog, Anthrax, Rett Smith and Luscious Jackson.
