Moritz Unna
Moritz Unna (31 December 1811, Copenhagen - 2 December 1871, Copenhagen) was a Danish genre painter and photographer. Biography He was born to Salomon Emanuel Unna (1780-1819), a furniture dealer and auctioneer, and his wife, Jacobine Jacobsen. Following his father's death, his mother moved the family to Göteborg. After finishing school, he worked in a trading office as a clerk, but wanted to be a painter. He therefore returned to Copenhagen in 1830, where he was accepted as a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1836, he was awarded a small silver medal by the Academy's model school. During his time there he also exhibited some of his works. His 1835 painting of a schoolmaster was purchased for the Royal Collection (now the National Gallery of Denmark). By 1837, he already seems to have been travelling abroad. In 1839, he settled in Munich. Assistens Cemetery (Copenhagen)
Assistens Cemetery ( Danish: Assistens Kirkegård) in Copenhagen, Denmark, is the burial site of many Danish notables as well as an important greenspace in the Nørrebro district. Inaugurated in 1760, it was originally a burial site for the poor laid out to relieve the crowded graveyards inside the walled city, but during the Golden Age in the first half of the 19th century it became fashionable and many leading figures of the epoch, such as Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard, Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, and Christen Købke are all buried here. Late in the 19th century, as Assistens Cemetery had itself become crowded, a number of new cemeteries were established around Copenhagen, including Vestre Cemetery, but through the 20th century, it continued to attract notable people. Philip Weilbach
Philip Weilbach (5 August 1834, Usserød – 22 November 1900, Copenhagen) was a Danish art historian and encyclopedist. He is remembered above all for his pioneering work on the early editions of the biographical dictionary, ''Weilbachs Kunstnerleksikon'' (Weilbach's Artists' Lexicon). Early life Son of Johan Philip Weilbach who ran a clothing factory in Usserød north of Copenhagen, Weilbach graduated from Borgdyd School on the Copenhagen island of Christianshavn in 1852. He then studied esthetics and history of art but did not take final examinations. Rudolph Striegler
Peter Ludvig Rudolph Striegler (4 October 1816 – 24 January 1876) was one of Denmark's early photographers, specialising in portrait photography. Trained as a picture-framer, Strieger opened Odense's first daguerreotype studio in 1846. With his experience of gold-plating, he was able to combine photography with ornate framing. Until 1857, he travelled widely around the country until he finally moved to Copenhagen. In 1860, he introduced carte-de-visite photography to Denmark. The idea of using a photograph instead of a printed visiting card came from France where it was patented by André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri in 1854 with a four-lensed camera which could take from eight to twelve photographs on the same glass negative. As the prints could be collected in albums, the technique became extremely popular. In 1861, while court photographer, he was awarded the Ingenio et Arti medal. The Kunstverein München (km) is a non-profit art association located in the Hofgarten (Munich), Hofgarten in Munich, Germany. It was founded in 1823 and is one of the oldest German art associations.
