Monte Clark
Monte Dale Clark (January 24, 1937 – September 16, 2009) was an American football player who served as head coach for the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions. He played college football at USC. Early years Clark attended Kingsburg High School, where he practiced football, basketball, baseball and track. As a senior, he contributed to the team winning a football championship, that included a 55-0 championship game win against Avenal High School. He was named the MVP of the first Fresno City-County All-Star football game. He accepted a football scholarship from USC. He was a two-year starter and in 1958, he was named a co-captain of the squad, playing on both sides of the line with future Pro Football Hall of Famer Ron Mix. In 1968, he was inducted into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The 1963 NFL season was the 44th regular season of the National Football League. On April 17, NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle suspended Green Bay Packers running back Paul Hornung and Detroit Lions defensive tackle Alex Karras indefinitely for gambling on their own teams, as well as other NFL games; Hornung and Karras would miss the entire season, while five of Karras' teammates were fined $2,000 each for placing bets on a game in which they did not participate. Before the season, CBS signed a contract with the league to televise all regular-season games for a $4.65 million annual fee. Ronald Jack Mix (born March 10, 1938) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive tackle. He is a member of the American Football League (AFL) All-Time Team, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979. Mix attended the University of Southern California, where he was an All American. Upon graduation, he played right tackle and guard for the AFL's Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers (1960–69) and the National Football League (NFL) Oakland Raiders (1971). An eight-time AFL All-Star (1961–68) and a nine-time All-AFL (1960–68) selection, he is also a member of the Los Angeles Chargers Hall of Fame.
