Montague is a township in eastern Ontario, Canada, in Lanark County on the Rideau River. The township administrative offices are located on Roger Stevens Drive east of Smiths Falls. Communities The township comprises the communities of Andrewsville, Atironto, Kilmarnock, Nolans Corners, Numogate, Poolers Corners, Rosedale and Welsh. Smiths Falls is a town in Eastern Ontario, Canada, southwest of Ottawa. As of the 2021 census it has a population of 9,254. It is in the Census division for Lanark County, but is administratively separated from the county. The Rideau Canal waterway passes through the town, with four separate locks in three locations and a combined lift of over . The town's name was previously spelled Smith's Falls, and the spelling Smith Falls has been used, but "Smiths Falls" is the official correct form. History Early history and naming Smiths Falls was incorporated first as a village in 1854, and then as a town in 1882. It is named after Thomas Smyth, a United Empire Loyalist who in 1786 was granted in what is present-day Smiths Falls. Beckwith, Ontario
Beckwith is a township in eastern Ontario, Canada. It is located in Lanark County on the Mississippi River. It is located within Canada's National Capital Region. The township, named after Sir Thomas Sydney Beckwith, was surveyed in 1816 and settlement began the year after. Geography Beckwith was originally covered in deciduous forest, much of which has been cleared for agriculture. Common trees include sugar maple, beech, oak and ash. Trees like hickory and butternut are less common. Wetter areas have elm, silver maple and white cedar. Hemlock was much more common in the past, but logging for tanbark, used in tanning, has much depleted this species. Rideau Lakes is a township located within the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Smiths Falls-Montague (Russ Beach) Airport is a registered aerodrome located about east of the town of Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada. Rideau Trail
The Rideau Trail is a hiking trail in Ontario, Canada, linking Ottawa and Kingston.Trischuk, Ernie, and Linda Hayes, ''The Rideau Trail Guidebook'', (Rideau Trail Association, Kingston, 7th ed., 2006) Crossing both public and private lands, the trail was created and opened in 1971. It is named for the Rideau Canal which also connects Ottawa and Kingston, although the two only occasionally connect. The trail crosses terrain ranging from the placid farmland of the Ottawa River and St. Lawrence River valleys to the rugged Canadian Shield in Frontenac Provincial Park. King's Highway15, commonly referred to as Highway15, is a provincially maintained highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It travels north from an interchange with Highway 401 in Kingston to Highway 7 in Carleton Place, a distance of .
