Monolith
A monolith is a geological feature consisting of a single massive stone or rock, such as some mountains. Erosion usually exposes the geological formations, which are often made of very hard and solid igneous or metamorphic rock. Some monoliths are volcanic plugs, solidified lava filling the vent of an extinct volcano. In architecture, the term has considerable overlap with megalith, which is normally used for prehistory, and may be used in the contexts of rock-cut architecture that remains attached to solid rock, as in monolithic church, or for exceptionally large stones such as obelisks, statues, monolithic columns or large architraves, that may have been moved a considerable distance after quarrying. It may also be used of large glacial erratics moved by natural forces. The word derives, via the Latin , from the Ancient Greek word (), from () meaning "one" or "single" and () meaning "stone". Geological monoliths Large, well-known monoliths include: Africa * Aso ...

Wolfmother
Wolfmother is an Australian hard rock band from Sydney. Formed in 2004, the group is centred around vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, who is the only constant member of the line-up. The band has been through many personnel changes since their formation. The original – and most commercially successful – line-up included bassist and keyboardist Chris Ross (musician), Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett. Ross and Heskett left Wolfmother after four years in 2008. Stockdale, Ross and Heskett formed Wolfmother in 2004 after several years of informal jamming. Signing with independent label Modular Recordings, the band released their Wolfmother (album), self-titled debut album in Australia in 2005, which reached number 3 on the domestic albums chart. It was released internationally by Interscope Records, Interscope and Island Records the following year, and to date has sold in excess of 1.5 million copies worldwide. After Ross and Heskett departed, Stockdale rebuilt the band ...

Pocket Universe
A pocket universe or bubble universe, also called pocket dimension, is a concept in inflationary theory, proposed by Alan Guth. Description It defines a realm like the one that contains the observable universe as only one of many inflationary zones. Astrophysicist Jean-Luc Lehners, of the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science, has argued that an inflationary universe does produce pockets. In his 2012 journal, Lehners wrote about how pocket universes can emerge as a result of eternal inflation. The mechanisms of inflation within these pocket universes could function in a variety of manners, such as slow-roll inflation, undergoing cycles of cosmological evolution, or resembling of the Galilean genesis or other 'emergent' universe scenarios. Lehners goes on to discuss which one of these types of universes we live in, and how that is dependent on the measurement of the regulation of infinities inherent in eternal inflation. But, Lehners continues, "the current leading m ...

Electric Warrior
''Electric Warrior'' is the second studio album by English rock band T. Rex and their sixth since their 1968 debut as Tyrannosaurus Rex, released on 24 September 1971, by Fly Records in the United Kingdom and Reprise Records in the United States. The album marked a turning point in the band's style, moving away from the folk-oriented sound of the group's previous albums and pioneering a more flamboyant, pop-oriented glam rock style. The album reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. The single " Get It On" helped to boost the album's sales and it reached the top ten of the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. Retitled "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" by the US record company, it also became the band's only North American hit. ''Electric Warrior'' has since received acclaim as a pivotal release in the glam rock movement. It had a profound influence on later musicians of different genres. Background As T. Monolith (Omid Album)
''Monolith'' is a studio album by American hip hop producer Omid. It was released by Mush Records on September 16, 2003. Critical reception Thomas Quinlan of ''Exclaim!'' wrote: "Although none of the songs on this album are bad, the rigid pattern of instrumental track then vocal track and back again becomes monotonous and breaks up the flow of the two separate entities, especially since the length of the instrumentals prevent them from being simply interludes." Meanwhile, Anna Klafter of ''SF Weekly'' wrote: "This combination of instrumentals and guest rappers creates the perfect sonic balance." Rollie Pemberton of ''Pitchfork'' gave the album a 6.2 out of 10, saying: "If Omid can manage to master a single style, instead of haphazardly attempting several approaches, he might yet carve his niche in the turbulent underground." The album was ranked at number 35 on CMJ's "Hip-Hop 2003" chart. Track listing Personnel Credits adapted from liner notes. * Omid Walizadeh – percuss ...

Monolith (Amebix Album)
''Monolith'' is the third studio album by the British crust punk band Amebix, released in 1987 by Heavy Metal Records. Shortly after its release, Amebix disbanded, and ''Monolith'' would be their final studio album until they reunited in 2008 and released '' Sonic Mass'' in 2011. Monolith (Kansas Album)
''Monolith'' is the sixth studio album by American progressive rock band Kansas, released in 1979 (see 1979 in music). The album reached No. 10 on the ''Billboard'' album charts, marking their third straight (and last) studio album to reach the top ten. Overview Their first studio album to be produced by the band themselves, ''Monolith'' would be the third studio album release by Kansas to rank in the Top Ten of the ''Billboard'' album chart. However, ''Monolith'' would prove to be a commercial disappointment in the face of bad reviews and the lack of a high-impact hit single. The lead single " People of the South Wind" stalled in the Top 30 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in August 1979, causing the rush release of "Reason to Be" as the second single: much-likened to Kansas' signature hit "Dust in the Wind", "Reason to Be" would nowhere near approximate that 1978 Top Ten hit's success, the Hot 100 peak of "Reason to Be" being #52. On their 80-city US tour, the band's set list ...
