Mols-Linien
(previously called ) is a Danish company that operates ferry services between Jutland (Jylland) and the island of Zealand (Sjælland). In March 2017, the routes in the Kattegat were renamed to Molslinjen, while the Bornholms services would continue to trade as Bornholmslinjen. History Mols-Linien was formed by DFDS in 1964 sailings commenced on 18 May 1966. A downturn in traffic following the 1973 oil crisis led Mols-Linien into a pooling agreement with rival Grenaa-Hundested Linien in 1979. In 1984 DFDS sold Mols-Linien and Grenaa-Hundested Linien to J. Lauritzen A/S. The company was sold 4 years later to Danish investment company DIFKO. In 1999 Mols-Linien merged with Scandlines subsidiary Cat-Link. Scandlines sold its holding to the Clipper Group in 2008. In July 2011 Mols-Linien announced it was to terminate the Kalundborg – Aarhus route and sell the two vessels operating the route. HSC Max Mols
HSC ''Max Mols'' is a high speed catamaran launched on 1 December 1997 at the Incat shipyard in Tasmania. She has spent the majority of her career serving the Aarhus- Odden route with Mols Linien. She has frequently been chartered to other operators in the Baltic Sea and English Channel. Initially chartered to Cat-Link as ''Cat-Link IV'' she entered service between Århus and Kalundborg in May 1998. The following January her charter passed to Mols Linien and she was thus renamed ''Max Mols'', entering service on her standing Århus- Odden route in April 1999. She has since had three major charters each for the summer seasons of 2000, 2002 and 2004 before returning to Denmark. Incat
Incat Tasmania is an Australian manufacturer of high-speed craft (HSC) catamaran ferries. Its greatest success has been with large, sea going passenger and vehicle ferries, but it has also built military transports and since 2015 it has built smaller river and bay ferries. Based in Derwent Park, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, it was founded by Bob Clifford. The company builds vessels using aluminium construction, wave-piercing and water-jet technology. Vessels have been constructed up to 130 metres in length with a size of 13,000 gross tons and with cruising speeds of up to 58 knots (107 km/h). Sjællands Odde
Sjællands Odde is a peninsula on the northwest coast of Zealand between the Kattegat and Sejerø Bay. From the outermost point of the peninsula, Gniben, a reef juts some out into the Kattegat. Geography In the Stone Age Sjællands Odde was a series of islands, but deposits over thousands of years have made it part of Zealand. Sjællands Odde is hilly at both ends, with the north side of the central section almost at sea level. The landscape is dotted with farms. ''Express 1'' is a high-speed catamaran operated by Molslinjen between Rønne and Ystad. Along with its sister ship, the ''Express 2'', they are the world's largest diesel-powered catamarans. History ''Express 1'' was built in 2009 at the Incat Yards in Tasmania, Australia as ''MGC 66'' for MGC Chartering Limited. Kattegat
The Kattegat (; sv, Kattegatt ) is a sea area bounded by the Jutlandic peninsula in the west, the Danish Straits islands of Denmark and the Baltic Sea to the south and the provinces of Bohuslän, Västergötland, Halland and Skåne in Sweden in the east. The Baltic Sea drains into the Kattegat through the Danish Straits. The sea area is a continuation of the Skagerrak and may be seen as a bay of the North Sea, but in traditional Scandinavian usage, this is not the case. The Kattegat is a rather shallow sea and can be very difficult and dangerous to navigate because of the many sandy and stony reefs and tricky currents, which often shift. In modern times, artificial seabed channels have been dug, many reefs have been dredged by either sand pumping or stone fishing, and a well-developed light signaling network has been installed, to safeguard the very heavy international traffic of this small sea.
