Modern Burdens
''Modern Burdens'' is a 2017 studio album by American alternative rock musician Tracy Bonham, re-recording her 1996 debut release ''The Burdens of Being Upright''. This release received positive critical reception. Recording was enabled by a crowdfunding campaign on PledgeMusic and the album was supported with a tour. Reception In ''Rolling Stone'', Maura Johnston gave this album four out of five stars, calling it "a lovingly penned postcard to Bonham’s past self, and a fascinating look at where she’s at right now"; the publication named it one of the 50 best albums of 2017. Writing for ABC News, Allan Raible gave this release four out of five stars, noting the difference in tone as Bonham has aged and calling several tracks for their radical reinterpretation of her work. Tracy Bonham
Tracy Bonham (born March 16, 1967) is an American alternative rock musician, best known for her 1996 single " Mother Mother". Raised in Eugene, Oregon, Bonham is a classically trained violinist and pianist, and is also a self-taught guitarist. She received two Grammy nominations in 1997 for Best Alternative Album and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. She also appeared with The Blue Man Group on the Complex Rock Tour Live DVD and tour. Biography Life and early music career Born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Eugene, Oregon, Bonham began singing at age five and playing the violin at nine. Mark Lavon "Levon" Helm (May 26, 1940 – April 19, 2012) was an American musician who achieved fame as the drummer and one of the three lead vocalists for the Band, for which he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. Helm was known for his deeply soulful, country-accented voice, multi-instrumental ability, and creative drumming style, highlighted on many of the Band's recordings, such as "The Weight", "Up on Cripple Creek", and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". Rachael Yamagata
Rachael Yamagata (born September 23, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist from Arlington, Virginia. She began her musical career with the band Bumpus before becoming a solo artist and releasing five EPs and four studio albums. Her songs have appeared on numerous television shows and she has collaborated with Jason Mraz, Rhett Miller, Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams, Toots and the Maytals and Ray Lamontagne. Early life and education Yamagata was born to a Japanese American father and an Italian- German mother. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). In recent years digital masters have become usual, although analog masters—such as audio tapes—are still being used by the manufacturing industry, particularly by a few engineers who specialize in analog mastering. Mastering requires critical listening; however, software tools exist to facilitate the process. Kay Hanley is an American singer and songwriter. She is best known as the vocalist for the alternative rock band Letters to Cleo. Life and career Hanley grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts across the street from the Wahlberg family. She attended school at St. Gregory's and Latin Academy. Sadie Dupuis (born Sarah Dupuis; July 8, 1988) is an American musician who is the guitarist, lead vocalist and lyricist for the band Speedy Ortiz and formerly for the band Quilty.
