Missing Post Office
The Missing Post Office (, Hyōryū Yūbinkyoku, "drifting post office") is an artwork by Japanese artist Saya Kubota. It is a "post office" where undeliverable letters are collected, using the former Awashima Post Office building on Awashima Island in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture. The Missing Post Office was created by Kubota as an installation for the Setouchi International Art Festival in 2013. It is not affiliated with Japan Post. Kubota serves as the "post office worker" of the Missing Post Office, and Katsuhisa Nakata, the former postmaster of the Awashima Post Office, as the "postmaster". Wind Phone
The is an unconnected telephone booth in Ōtsuchi, Iwate, Ōtsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, where visitors can hold one-way conversations with deceased loved ones. Initially created by garden designer Itaru Sasaki in 2010 to help him cope with his cousin's death, it was opened to the public in the following year after the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami killed over 15,000 people in the Tōhoku region. The wind phone has since received over 30,000 visitors. A number of replicas have been constructed around the world, and it has served as the inspiration for several novels and films. PostSecret is an ongoing community mail art project, created by Frank Warren in 2005, in which people mail their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard. Selected secrets are then posted on the PostSecret website, or used for PostSecret's books or museum exhibits. History The concept of the project was that completely anonymous people decorate a postcard and portray a secret that they had never previously revealed. No restrictions are made on the content of the secret; only that it must be completely truthful and must never have been spoken before. A message in a bottle (abbrev. MIB) is a form of communication in which a message is sealed in a container (typically a bottle) and released into a conveyance medium (typically a body of water). Messages in bottles have been used to send distress messages, in crowdsourced scientific studies of ocean currents, as memorial tributes, to send deceased loved ones' ashes on a final journey, to convey expedition reports, and to carry letters or reports from those believing themselves to be doomed.
