Miss World Iceland
Miss World Iceland (originally Miss Iceland; ), is a national beauty pageant in Iceland. The winner of this contest represents Iceland at Miss World. History The competition has been carried out since 1950; in the first year it was called Miss Reykjavík (Ungfrú Reykjavík). Since 1955, the contest has taken place under the current name Miss Iceland. In the past, contest winners gained the right to represent Iceland in Miss Universe, Miss World or Miss International. As of 2009, the winner goes on to compete in Miss World. There are six regional preliminary contests in each of the five rural regions and in the capital Reykjavík. 20 to 24 candidates, three to four from each region, take part in the finals. Iceland is one of the most successful countries at the Miss World pageant with three victories, a record for a nation with a population of less than half a million people. Miss World 2017
Miss World 2017 was the 67th edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China, on 18 November 2017. Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico crowned Manushi Chhillar of India as her successor at the end of the event. It was the sixth victory for India in the history of the pageant, tying with Venezuela for the most wins in the pageant's history. Garðabær () is a town and municipality in the Capital Region of Iceland. History Garðabær is a growing town in the Capital Region. It is the fifth largest municipality in Iceland with a population of 20,116 (1 January 2025). The site of Garðabær has been inhabited since Iceland was first settled in the 9th century. Miss World 2010
Miss World 2010 was the 60th anniversary of the Miss World pageant, held at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China, on 30 October 2010, after Vietnam backed out of the hosting contract. Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar crowned Alexandria Mills of the United States as her successor at the end of the event. This is the third time United States has won the title. Akranes
Akranes () is a port town and municipality on the west coast of Iceland, around north of the capital Reykjavík. The area where Akranes is located was settled in the 9th century; however, it did not receive a municipal charter until 1942. Miss World 2012 was the 62nd edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium in Ordos City, China, on 18 August 2012. Miss World 2013 was the 63rd edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Bali International Convention Center in Bali, South Kuta, Indonesia, on 28 September 2013. Yu Wenxia of China crowned Megan Young of the Philippines as her successor at the end of the event, marking the only time to date that the Philippines has won the Miss World title. Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir
Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir (born 30 May 1995) is an Icelandic model, beauty pageant titleholder, and pole vaulter. She was crowned Miss Iceland 2015, and represented her country at Miss World 2015. Arna later won Miss Universe Iceland 2017 and represented Iceland at Miss Universe 2017.
