The Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic (, MO ČR) is the primary agency of the Czech Republic responsible for the planning and carrying-out of defence policy. It is the Czech Republic's ministry of defence. It is the direct successor of the Czechoslovak Ministry of Defence. Its current headquarters is located in Prague. The current Minister of Defence is Jana Černochová, in office since 17 December 2021. A ministry of defence or defense (see spelling differences), also known as a department of defence or defense, is the part of a government responsible for matters of defence and military forces, found in states where the government is divided into ministries or departments. Lubomír Metnar (born 6 October 1967) is a Czech politician. He became a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic in 2021, working as a non-party member of the ANO 2011 movement. Early life and education Metnar joined the service of Public Security on 1 October 1987, before becoming an executive three years later. He worked at the Public Safety Emergency Regiment from 1 March 1988 until 23 February 1989. Martin Stropnický
Martin Stropnický (born 19 December 1956) is a Czech politician and diplomat who served as the minister of Foreign Affairs from December 2017 to June 2018, and was previously minister of Defence from 2014 to 2017. From 2 January 1998 to 22 July 1998 he also served as the minister of Culture. Before entering politics, he was an actor, songwriter, author and director. Vlastimil Picek (25 October 1956) is a Czech politician. He served as the Ministry of Defence (Czech Republic), Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic from March 2012 to January 2013. From 2007 to 2012, he was the Military of the Czech Republic, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. He was the fourth person and the first member of Czech Air Force to serve at this position. Petr Nečas (; born 19 November 1964) is a Czech former politician who served as the prime minister of the Czech Republic and leader of the Civic Democratic Party from 2010 to 2013, and as Member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) from 1993 to 2013. Born in Uherské Hradiště, Nečas earned a doctor of natural sciences degree in physics at Masaryk University in Brno. In 1991, he was one of the co-founders of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS). Karolína Peake (born 10 October 1975), née Kvačková, is a Czech politician and lawyer who served as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 2011 to 2013. Career She was a member of the Civic Democratic Party between 1997 and 1998, during her studies at university. In 1999 she graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University and married Charles Peake, an Australian manager of Czech-Chinese origin. Alexandr Vondra (; born 17 August 1961) is a Czech politician and diplomat who served as Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic from 2010 to 2012 under Prime Minister Petr Nečas and has been Member of the European Parliament (MEP) since 2019.
