Mil Milhas Brasil
The Mil Milhas Brasil (also known as the Mil Milhas Brasileiras or 1000 Miles of Brazil in Portuguese) is a sports car endurance race held annually in Brazil since 1956. The Mil Milhas has been held nearly every year since its inception and is one of the longest running motor racing events in Brazil. Nearly every running has used the Interlagos circuit, but the 1997 and 1999 events were held at Brasília and Curitiba respectively. Zeca Giaffone holds the record of most wins, having won in 1981, 1984, 1986, 1988 and 1989. History The first Mil Milhas was organized by Eloy Gogliano and Wilson Fittipaldi Sr., the father of racing drivers Emerson Fittipaldi and Wilson Fittipaldi Júnior. Interlagos Circuit
The Autódromo José Carlos Pace, better known as Autódromo de Interlagos or simply Interlagos, is a motorsport race track, circuit located in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It was inaugurated on 12 May 1940, by the federal intervener of the São Paulo province, Adhemar de Barros. In 1985, the circuit was renamed to honor the Formula 1 driver Carlos Pace, José Carlos Pace, who died in a plane crash in 1977. It runs counterclockwise and is long. The facilities also include a Kart racing, kart circuit named after Ayrton Senna. The circuit has hosted the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix since 1973, with the current contract set to expire in 2030. The BRB Stock Car Pro Series, formerly known as Stock Car Brasil, is a touring car racing, touring car auto racing series based in Brazil organized by Vicar. It is considered the major Brazilian and South American motorsports series. Starting in 1979 with Chevrolet as the only constructor, the series has also seen other constructors joining in and leaving such as Mitsubishi Motors, Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Volkswagen, currently the only other besides Chevrolet is Toyota. Chevrolet Opala
The Chevrolet Opala is a Brazilian mid-size car sold under the Chevrolet brand in South America from 1969 to 1992, by General Motors do Brasil. It was derived from the German Opel Rekord Series C and Opel Commodore Series A, but used local design styling and engines derived from North American designs. GM manufactured about one million units including the Opala sedan, Opala Coupé, and the station wagon variant, the Opala Caravan. It was replaced by the Chevrolet Omega in 1992, also an Opel-derived project. It was the first passenger car built by GM in Brazil by the General Motors do Brasil division. Francisco Adolpho "Chico" Serra (born 3 February 1957) is a Brazilian racing driver. Biography Serra made his mark in International motorsport when he won the 1979 British Formula 3 Championship, one season after his compatriot Nelson Piquet had won the title. His performance caught the eye of Emerson Fittipaldi, he himself a British Formula 3 Championship winner in 1969, who signed him for his Formula One team Fittipaldi. Serra debuted alongside Keke Rosberg on 15 March 1981 in Long Beach, finishing seventh. Serra's result would turn out to be the best one for the team over the rest of the season. Alfa Romeo GTA
The Alfa Romeo GTA is a coupé manufactured by Italian automaker Alfa Romeo from 1965 to 1971, in both racing ("Corsa") and road ("Stradale") versions. Design In 1962, the successor for the popular Alfa Romeo Giulietta was introduced. This car was the Giulia, internally called the Tipo 105. The 105 coupé used the shortened floor pan from the Giulia Berlina and was designed by Bertone. The Alpine A110 is a sports car produced by French automobile manufacturer Alpine from 1963 to 1977. The car was styled as a " berlinette", which in the post-WWII era refers to a small enclosed two-door berline, better-known as a coupé. The Alpine A110 succeeded the earlier A108.
