Mike Roberts (baseball)
Thomas Michael Roberts (born March 1, 1950) is a former American professional baseball player and college baseball coach. He played for the North Carolina Tar Heels from 1970 through 1972, and then in Minor League Baseball in 1972 and 1973. He returned to the Tar Heels as their coach, serving in the role from 1978 through 1998. His son, Brian Roberts, played Major League Baseball. Early life and career Roberts attended Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At North Carolina, he played college baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team as a catcher. A member of the Tar Heels from 1970 through 1972, Roberts was named All-Atlantic Coast Conference in all three seasons. The Kansas City Royals selected Roberts in the 34th round of the 1972 MLB Draft. Mike Roberts (born August 3, 1992) is an American mixing engineer. Early life Born in Syracuse, New York and raised in the suburb of Baldwinsville, Roberts first became interested in music at age 13 after discovering his father's old guitar. While attending high school, Roberts performed at numerous bars, clubs and regional music festivals with his band on a nightly basis, but it was not until he walked into a local recording studio at the age of 16 where he found his passion for engineering. After an early graduation from high school in 2009, Roberts attended the Berklee College of Music for three semesters before leaving to pursue mixing and audio engineering full-time. Mike Roberts (July 17, 1933 – September 13, 2016) was an American radio sportscaster in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he provided play-by-play for University of New Mexico (UNM) Lobo basketball and football games on KKOB (AM). His career in New Mexico is unparalleled as a long time (1966-2013) Albuquerque sports announcer on TV and radio for local news, professional baseball, college football & basketball, and high school sports broadcasts. Roberts began broadcasting Lobo football games in 1966 and Lobo basketball games in 1968, becoming known along the way as "the Voice of the Lobos". For years he hosted ''The Mike Roberts Show'' and the UNM coaches shows on KKOB and was the sports anchor on KOB-TV Channel 4, the NBC affiliate in Albuquerque.
