Mik Snijder (born 6 February 1931) is a retired Dutch road cyclist who was active between 1954 and 1961. Olympia's Tour
The Olympia's Tour is a cycling stage race held in the Netherlands. History A.S.C. Olympia was founded in Amsterdam on 27 November 1898. It ran one-day races but wanted a race through all the Netherlands. The first Olympia's Tour was in 1909, with three stages and one rest day. The second in 1910 went to Maastricht and Groningen. It was 17 years before the third race, partly because races on public roads were forbidden in the Netherlands during the First World War. An international field with 16 Germans, the champions of Switzerland and Luxembourg and around 40 Dutch riders left the Rembrandtplein on 17 August 1927. The Dutch were mainly amateurs, the Germans sponsored riders who rode for bicycle manufacturers such as Opel and Diamant which provided material and a support team. The German Rudolf Wolke won after four stages and 800 kilometres ahead of Janus Braspennincx. It was the last race until 1955. Vries, Drenthe
Vries is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo, and lies about 8 km north of Assen. Vries was a separate municipality until 1998, when it was merged with Eelde and Zuidlaren into a new municipality called Tynaarlo. History The village was first mentioned in 1139 as Vrees. The etymology is unclear. Vries is an '' esdorp'' which developed in the Early Middle Ages. The old village structure is still visible. The Dutch Reformed church dates from the 12th century. It was extended around 1425. The church contains two sarcophagi. Vries was home to 415 people in 1840. Vries used to be independent municipality. Ronde Van Overijssel
Ronde van Overijssel ( en, Tour of Overijssel) is an elite men's road bicycle racing event held annually in Overijssel, Netherlands and sanctioned by the Royal Dutch Cycling Union. The event is UCI 1.2 rated, and is part of the UCI Europe Tour. In 2012, the race was expanded to two days for its 60th anniversary, but reverted to a single-day race in 2013.
