Micah Beckwith
Micah Beckwith (born August 1982) is an American pastor and politician serving as the 53rd lieutenant governor of Indiana since 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he won the 2024 election as the running mate of Mike Braun. Early life and education Beckwith is from Hillsdale, Michigan, and graduated from Huntington University with a Bachelor of Arts in business economics. He is a pastor at Life Church in Noblesville, Indiana, and he calls himself a Christian nationalist. Political career Beckwith sought the Republican Party's nomination for in the 2020 United States House of Representatives elections. He finished in third place with 13.1% of the vote, losing to Victoria Spartz. Hoosier is the official demonym for the people of the U.S. state of Indiana. The origin of the term remains a matter of debate; however, "Hoosier" was in general use by the 1840s, having been popularized by Richmond resident John Finley's 1833 poem "The Hoosier's Nest". Indiana adopted the nickname "The Hoosier State" more than 150 years ago. "Hoosier" is used in the names of numerous Indiana-based businesses and organizations. "Hoosiers" is also the name of the Indiana University athletic teams. As there is no accepted embodiment of a Hoosier, the IU schools are represented through their letters and colors alone.
