Meopham railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving the village of Meopham, Kent. It is down the line from and is situated between and . The station is managed by Southeastern. History The main line of the London, Chatham and Dover Railway was opened in stages. The section between (then named Strood) and was opened on 3 December 1860; but the station at ''Meopham'' opened later, on 6 May 1861. The current station building is a prefabricated building erected in 1971 to British Rail's CLASP design. Facilities and Connections The station has a ticket office which is open during the morning only (06:15-12:45 Mon-Fri and 08:00-13:15 Sat). At other times, the station is unstaffed and tickets can be purchased from the self-service ticket machine at the station. Meopham is a large linear village and civil parish in the Gravesham, Borough of Gravesham in north-west Kent, England, lying to the south of Gravesend. The parish covers , and comprises two villages and two smaller settlements; it had a population of 6,795 at the 2021 census. Meopham village is sometimes described as the longest settlement in England although others such as Brinkworth, Wiltshire, Brinkworth which is one village make the same claim. Meopham is one of the longest linear settlements in Europe, being in length. Meopham is formally twinned with Ivanivka rural hromada, Chernihiv Oblast, Ivanivka rural hromada in northern Ukraine. Vigo, Kent
Vigo Village is a village and (as simply Vigo) a civil parish in the Gravesham district in Kent, England. It takes its name from a 15th-century public house, which was renamed in the 18th century after the Battle of Vigo Bay. While a nearby hamlet named Vigo was recorded on an 18th-century map, the present village was built in the mid-20th century, on a site that was previously a disused World War II army camp. The civil parish was created on 1 April 2000 from the parish of Meopham.
