Melbourne Rail Link
The Melbourne Rail Link was a proposed twin 6 to 7 kilometre (3.72 to 4.34 mi) rail tunnels between Southern Cross and South Yarra with four new underground stations at South Yarra, Domain and Fishermans Bend ( Montague) and Southern Cross Station. The tunnel would have connected the Belgrave, Lilydale and Alamein lines with the Frankston line enabling the operational separation of various existing lines on Melbourne's rail network and increase the capacity of the system to metro-style frequencies. Following a change in State Government due to the state election, the project was cancelled and the previous Metro Tunnel proposal was reinstated. Rapid transit or mass rapid transit (MRT) or heavy rail, commonly referred to as metro, is a type of high-capacity public transport that is generally built in urban areas. A business case captures the reasoning for initiating a project or task. Many projects, but not all, are initiated by using a business case. It is often presented in a well-structured written document, but may also come in the form of a short verbal agreement or presentation. The logic of the business case is that, whenever resources such as money or effort are consumed, they should be in support of a specific business need. An example could be that a software upgrade might improve system performance, but the "business case" is that better performance would improve customer satisfaction, require less task processing time, or reduce system maintenance costs. Robert Doyle
Robert Keith Bennett Doyle (born 20 May 1953) is an Australian politician who was the 103rd Lord Mayor of Melbourne, elected on 30 November 2008 until he resigned on 4 February 2018 amidst allegations of sexual harassment. Ringwood railway station is a commuter railway station and the junction point for the Belgrave and Lilydale lines, part of the Melbourne railway network. It serves the eastern Melbourne suburb of Ringwood in Victoria, Australia. Ringwood is a ground level premium station, featuring three platforms, an island platform with two faces and one side platform, connected by an accessible overground concourse. It opened on 1 December 1882, with the current station provided in 2016. Frankston railway station is a commuter railway station and the terminus of the Frankston line and diesel-hauled services on the Stony Point line, all part of the Melbourne railway network. Melbourne Airport Rail, also known as SRL Airport, is a proposed heavy rail project, connecting the Melbourne CBD to Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine. The rail link will run through the under-construction Metro Tunnel, running from the airport to Town Hall station, Melbourne, Town Hall station in the city centre with of new track between the airport and Sunshine railway station, Melbourne, Sunshine station. In transportation infrastructure, a bidirectional traffic system divides travellers into two streams of traffic that flow in opposite directions. In the design and construction of tunnels, bidirectional traffic can markedly affect ventilation considerations. Fishermans Bend
Fishermans Bend (formerly Fishermen's Bend) is a precinct within the City of Port Phillip and the City of Melbourne. It is located on the south of the Yarra River in the suburb of Port Melbourne and opposite Coode Island, close to the Melbourne central business district. Fishermans Bend originally included the area now known as Garden City, Victoria, Garden City, which was renamed in 1929. Since 2012 the area has been designated as a major urban renewal area, with plans for 80,000 residents by 2050. Kings Domain
Kings Domain is an area of parklands in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It surrounds Government House Reserve, the home of the governors of Victoria, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and the Shrine Reserve incorporating the Shrine of Remembrance. The park was established in 1854, extending the Domain Parklands further north-west, it covers an area of 36 hectares of lawns and pathways set among non-native and native Australian mature trees, a mixture of deciduous and evergreens. In the 19th century the Kings Domain was managed by the Director of the Botanic Gardens, so many of the trees were planted by Baron Ferdinand von Mueller and later by William Guilfoyle. Southern Cross railway station (until 2005 known as Spencer Street station) is a major railway station in Docklands, Victoria, Docklands, Melbourne.
