Alexander McKim
Alexander McKim (January 10, 1748January 18, 1832) was a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from Maryland. Biography McKim was born in Brandywine, Delaware, Brandywine in the Delaware Colony. After pursuing an academic course he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, and served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1778. He served in the American Revolutionary War, Revolutionary War as a member of the Baltimore Independent Cadets and of the First Baltimore Cavalry. He also fought under Gilbert du Motier, marquis de La Fayette, Lafayette in the Virginia campaign of 1781. After the war, he served as member of the Maryland Senate from 1806 to 1810. Robert McKim (born December 29, 1952) is an Irish philosopher of religion. He was born in Collooney , Co. Sligo and attended Wesley College for his Secondary Education in Dublin. As a student he worked in London during summer vacations. He has degrees in philosophy from Trinity College Dublin and from the University of Calgary, and a Ph.D. in religious studies and philosophy from Yale University. McKim's School
McKim's School, also known as McKim's Free School, is a historic school located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is an archaeologically accurate Greek-style building. The front façade is designed after the Temple of Hephaestus, or Temple of Theseus, in Athens, Greece in granite. Six freestone Doric columns, tall, support the entablature and pediment. The sides were derived from the north wing of the Propylaia on the Acropolis of Athens. The building site was funded by Quaker merchant Jon McKim who funded a trust for poor students managed by his son Isaac after his death in 1819. It was designed by Baltimore architects William Howard and William Small and erected in 1833. It served as a school and youth training center until 1945, when the building was adapted for use as the McKim Community Center. In 1972 the building was sold by trustees to the city. McKim Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by DePauw University. Built in 1884, it is located in Greencastle, Indiana (USA). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Donor The observatory is named after Robert McKim, who presented to the observatory a complete astronomical outfit at a cost of over $10,000. ''Note:'' This includes and Accompanying photographs. Sammy McKim
Sammy McKim (December 20, 1924 – July 9, 2004) was a Canadian film actor and artist. He graduated from Los Angeles Art Center with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He died in Burbank, California from heart failure in 2004. McKim Served in the U.S. Army in 1943 with his brother David McKim where he fought in the Korean War. He earned the Distinguished Service Cross medal for being shot down in combat during the Korean War. After the war McKim stopped acting and became an artist, starting his career at the art department of Fox Studios before moving to the Walt Disney Company where he'd stay for the next 32 years until his retirement in 1987, 12 of which he would work closely with Walt Disney. Ruby McKim
Ruby Short McKim ( Short; July 27, 1891 – July 26, 1976) was an American quilt designer, entrepreneur, teacher, writer and magazine editor. She developed an early interest in drawing, and graduated from the New York School of Fine and Applied Art in 1912. McKim taught drawing in the Missouri public school system, and became a contributor to ''The Kansas City Star,'' from which her quilt works was first published. She was appointed editor of various magazines, and co-founded the McKim Studios mail-order company with her husband Arthur McKim in 1925 as a means of disturbing her works widely. The business later evolved into Kimport Dolls, and McKim began selling imported antique dolls in the domestic market. Andrew McKim
Andrew Harry McKim (born July 6, 1970) is a Canadian former ice hockey centre. He played in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings, playing a total of 38 regular season games. Career McKim's lone NHL goal occurred when he was playing for Boston. It came in the Bruins' 9-4 victory over the Hartford Whalers on December 26, 1992. He won the scoring title at the 1995 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships and won the bronze medal with Team Canada. McKim spent three seasons in Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the Eisbären Berlin and two seasons in Switzerland's Nationalliga A for the Kloten Flyers and the ZSC Lions before retiring in 2001. Robert McKim (1877 – June 4, 1927) was an American actor of the silent film era and a performer in vaudeville. He appeared in nearly 100 films between 1915 and 1927. He played the arch villain opposite Douglas Fairbanks's Zorro in '' The Mark of Zorro'' in 1920. Biography McKim was born in 1877 in San Jacinto, California and attended schools in San Francisco. He acted with stock theater companies in California, beginning with the Alcazar Stock Company, before he worked in films, beginning with the Ince and Triangle companies.
