Maya Blagoeva
Maya Blagoeva (later ''Mitova'', bg, Мая Благоева; born 25 July 1956) is a retired Bulgarian artistic gymnast. A seven-time national champion, she competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics . Blagoeva has a bachelor's degree in physical education. She is married to the Olympic gymnastics coach Zarko Mitov and has a long coaching experience herself. She brought three gymnasts to the international and Olympic level, including her daughter Silvia Mitova. Artistic gymnastics is a discipline of gymnastics in which athletes perform short routines on different apparatuses. The 1972 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad () and commonly known as Munich 1972 (german: München 1972), was an international multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972. The event was overshadowed by the Munich massacre in the second week, in which eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and a West German police officer at Olympic village were killed by Palestinian Black September members. The motivation for the attack was the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Silvia Zarkova Mitova (later ''Hutchinson'', bg, Силвия Заркова Митова, born 29 June 1976) is a retired Bulgarian artistic gymnast. A five-time Bulgarian Champion, she placed fourth-sixth in some individual events at the 1991 and 1992 world championships. She competed in at the 1992 Summer Olympics with the best result of eighth place in the floor exercise. The same year she won a bronze medal in the vault at the European championships.
