Mawdryn Undead
''Mawdryn Undead'' is the third serial of the 20th season of the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'', which was originally broadcast in four twice weekly parts on BBC1 from 1 to 9 February 1983. The serial is set in an English boarding school and a spaceship above the Earth in 1977 and 1983. In the serial, the scientist Mawdryn ( David Collings), whose people on board the ship have been afflicted by a mutation that constantly causes their bodies to renew themselves, seeks to die using the regenerative abilities of the alien time traveller the Fifth Doctor ( Peter Davison) to stop this process and allow them to die. ''Mawdryn Undead'' is the first of three loosely connected serials where the Black Guardian ( Valentine Dyall) attempts to compel the alien Vislor Turlough ( Mark Strickson) to kill the Doctor, and introduces Turlough as a regular character. ''Snakedance'' is the second serial of the 20th season of the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four twice-weekly parts on BBC1 from 18 to 26 January 1983. The serial is set on the planet Manussa 500 years after the serial ''Kinda'' (1982). Paddy Kingsland
Paddy Kingsland (born 30 January 1947) is a composer of electronic music best known for his incidental music for science fiction series on BBC radio and television whilst working at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Educated at Eggar's Grammar School in Alton, Hampshire, he joined the BBC as a tape editor before moving on to become a studio manager for BBC Radio 1. In 1970 he joined the Radiophonic Workshop where he remained until 1981. His initial work was mostly signature tunes for BBC radio and TV programmes before going on to record incidental music for programmes including '' The Changes'', two versions of ''The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'' (the second radio series and the TV adaptation), as well as several serials of '' Doctor Who''. John Nathan-Turner ('' né'' Turner; 12 August 1947 – 1 May 2002) was an English television producer. He was the ninth producer of the long-running BBC science fiction series '' Doctor Who''. Eric Saward (; born 9 December 1944) is a British radio scriptwriter who worked for the BBC as a television script editor and screenwriter on the science fiction series '' Doctor Who'' from 1982 until 1986. He wrote the stories '' The Visitation'' (1982), '' Earthshock'' (1982), ''Resurrection of the Daleks'' (1984) and '' Revelation of the Daleks'' (1985). Early life Saward was born to a father who was an engineer at de Havilland in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. He was raised in Welwyn Garden City. Peter Grimwade
Peter Grimwade (8 June 1942 – 15 May 1990) was a British television director and screenwriter, known for his work as a director and writer of the BBC science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'' in the 1980s. Career After joining the BBC in the late 1960s, Grimwade first worked on ''Doctor Who'' as a production assistant on Jon Pertwee's first serial, ''Spearhead from Space'' (1970). He occupied this position on a further five serials. He got his first chance to direct when he was asked to film some model shots for the serial ''The Robots of Death'' (1977) while the serial's actual director, Michael E.
