Matthew Dayes
Matthew Dayes (born September 3, 1994) is a former American football running back. He played college football at NC State. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL draft. Early life Dayes attended and played high school football at Cypress Bay High School. College career Dayes attended and played college football at NC State from 2013–2016. He had a particularly strong collegiate debut against Louisiana Tech with 17 carries for 84 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in the 40–14 victory. Overall, in his freshman season, he had 63 carries for 252 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns to go along with 10 receptions for 173 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. The primary roles of a running back are to receive handoffs from the quarterback to rush the ball, to line up as a receiver to catch the ball, and block. The 2017 NFL Draft was the 82nd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. A return specialist or kick returner is a player on the special teams unit of a gridiron football team who specializes in returning punts and kickoffs. There are few players who are exclusively return specialists; most also play another position such as wide receiver, defensive back, or running back. In gridiron football, a reception, also known informally as a catch, is part of a passing play in which a player in bounds successfully catches (receives) a forward pass thrown from a friendly quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. A touchdown (abbreviated as TD) is a scoring play in gridiron football. Whether running, passing, returning a kickoff or punt, or recovering a turnover, a team scores a touchdown by advancing the ball into the opponent's end zone.
