Karl Mathy
Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Mathy (March 17, 1807 – February 3, 1868), was a statesman from the Grand Duchy of Baden. He was born at Mannheim. He studied law and politics at Heidelberg, and entered the Baden government department of finance in 1829. His sympathy with the revolutionary ideas of 1830, expressed in his paper the ''Zeitgeist'', cost him his appointment in 1834, and he made his way to Switzerland, where he contributed to the ''Jeune Suisse'' directed by Mazzini. On his return to Baden in 1840 he edited the ''Landtagszeitung'' at Karlsruhe, and in 1842 he entered the estates for the town of Konstanz. In 1843 Mathy founded a publishing house in Heidelberg together with Friedrich Daniel Bassermann, that would later become known as Bassermann'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung. He became one of the opposition leaders and in 1847 helped to found the ''Deutsche Zeitung'', a paper which eventually did much to further the cause of German unity. Marianne Mathy
Marianne Mathy (; 23 June 1890 – 15 October 1978) was a German-born coloratura soprano opera singer and distinguished teacher of opera and classical singing. Germany She was born Marianne Helene Sara Kahn in Mannheim, Germany on 23 June 1890. She was baptised as a Lutheran in 1896, though her father's family were Jewish. In 1913, Marianne married Colonel Erich Mathy, an officer of Kaiser Wilhelm II's Imperial German Army. Though they divorced the next year, with Eric killed in action shortly thereafter, Marianne retained Mathy's name for the remainder of her life. In 1921, she married Berlin architect, Franz (Francis) Martin Friendenstein. They later changed this name by deed poll in February 1945 from Friendenstein to Frisdane. Her musical education included piano, theory, speech training, interpretation and voice production, with a special course for the treatment of damaged vocal cords. Reinhold Mathy
Reinhold Mathy (born 12 April 1962) is a German former footballer who played as a forward. He played for Bayern Munich for seven years, winning four German titles and three cups. He retired due to an injury in 1993. Career Mathy joined Bayern Munich's youth team in 1979, and made his first-team debut a year later, as a substitute for Norbert Janzon in a 3–1 win over VfL Bochum. He made two more substitute appearances in the 1980–81 season, replacing Dieter Hoeneß and scoring both times, as Bayern ended the season as German champions. The following season he made seventeen appearances without getting on the scoresheet, the last of which was the European Cup Final – he started the match, which Bayern lost 1–0 against Aston Villa, being replaced by Günter Güttler after 51 minutes.
