Mount Arowhana
Mount Arowhana is a mountain that is part of the backbone of the Raukumara Range in the northeast of New Zealand's North Island. The range forms part of a line of mountains extending along the eastern side of the North Island between the Gisborne District and Wellington. The mountain is at the centre of a major watershed, on the boundary between the Gisborne District and the Ōpōtiki District. Its eastern side is drained by the Mata River, which flows to the Waiapu River, thence into the Pacific Ocean just south of East Cape. Ruatoria
Ruatoria () is a town in the Waiapu Valley of the Gisborne Region in the northeastern corner of New Zealand's North Island. The town was originally known as Cross Roads then Manutahi and was later named Ruatorea in 1913, after the Māori Master female grower ''Tōrea'' who had some of the finest storage pits in her Iwi at the time (Te-Rua-a-Tōrea). In 1925 the name was altered to "Ruatoria", although some texts retain the original spelling. Ruatoria's Whakarua Park is the home of the East Coast Rugby Football Union. Waiapu River
The Waiapu River is a river in the Gisborne District of the North Island of New Zealand, with a total length of approximately . Found in the north-east of the Waiapu Valley, it flows north-east from the joining of the Mata River and the Tapuaeroa River (both of which flow from the Raukumara Ranges), then passes by Ruatoria before reaching the Pacific Ocean at Rangitukia.
