Maryanne Ito is an American Soul music, soul singer, songwriter, and performer based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Blending genres such as neo soul, Soul music, soul, hip hop, jazz, and R&B, she has been writing and performing since 2006 and collaborating with musicians such as Slapp Symphony and DJ Bennie James. In 2014 she released her debut album ''Waking Up (Maryanne Ito album), Waking Up,'' which peaked at No. 4 on the UK Soul Chart. Blackstar (band)
Blackstar were a British hard rock band, formed as a retooling of the band Carcass in 1995 without Bill Steer along with former Cathedral guitarist Mark Griffiths. The band name comes from a Carcass song off the '' Swansong'' 1996 album. Blackstar released only a single album. After a while, the band was forced to change its name to Blackstar Rising. The Hawaii Music Awards were an annual people's-choice awards program established in 1996. The awards were organized and managed by the Music Foundation of Hawaii, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the diversity of music in Hawaii and to honoring and acknowledging the talents and achievements of the state's musicians.
