Marios Giourdas
Marios Giourdas (sometimes written as Gkiourdas) ( Greek: Μάριος Γκιούρδας; born 2 March 1973) is a Greek male former volleyball player. He was part of the Greece men's national volleyball team. He competed with the national team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. At club level, he played most notably for Olympiacos, Parma and Iraklis. Giourdas is also a firefighter in Athens. In 2016, at a fire near Pireaus, he, along with other firefighters, saved nine people and a baby. Alexandroupoli
Alexandroupolis ( el, Αλεξανδρούπολη, ), Alexandroupoli, or Alexandrople is a city in Greece and the capital of the Evros regional unit. It is the largest city in Western Thrace and the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It has 71,601 inhabitants and is an important port and commercial center of northeastern Greece. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. E.A. Patras is a Greek omnisports club founded in 1927 and based in Patras. It is mostly known for its volleyball and boxing sections, which compete at the highest level in Greece. Ethnikos Alexandroupolis Volleyball Club is the volleyball department of Ethnikos Alexandroupolis multi-sport club that based in Alexandroupoli, Greece. It plays almost constantly in A1 Greek Volleyleague and it is the most consistent club (42 participations) in the Greek league except Athens and Thessaloniki. Its colours are blue and white and its home is the Closed Gym of Alexandroupoli 'Michalis Paraskevopoulos' (capacity: 1000 seats).
