Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune ( or ) is a United States Armed Forces, United States military training facility in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Its of beaches make the base a major area for Amphibious warfare, amphibious assault training, and its location between two deep-water ports (Wilmington, North Carolina, Wilmington and Morehead City, North Carolina, Morehead City) allows for fast deployments. The main base is supplemented by six satellite facilities: Marine Corps Air Station New River, Camp Geiger, Stone Bay, Courthouse Bay, Camp Gilbert H. Johnson, Camp Johnson, and the Marine Corps Outlying Field Camp Davis, Greater Sandy Run Training Area. Stone Bay
Stone Bay is a satellite facility of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Based on the south side of Camp Lejeune, it is home to Weapons Training Battalion, which functions as the primary facility for weapons qualifications on Camp Lejeune, having several shooting ranges: three rifle ranges, two pistol ranges, and one long sniper range and the headquarters of United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, with the MARSOC compound on Stone Bay opening in 2010. The parent command responsible for the ranges is Weapons Training Battalion (WTBN). WTBN is broken down into two companies, Range Company and Headquarters Company. Although not geographically connected, Camp Geiger is part of the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune complex, and is home to the United States Marine Corps School of Infantry East for all Marines recruited through the Eastern Recruiting Region. Marine Corps Air Station New River is a United States Marine Corps helicopter and tilt-rotor base in Jacksonville, North Carolina, in the eastern part of the state. In 1972, the airfield was named McCutcheon Field for General Keith B. McCutcheon, one of the fathers of Marine Corps helicopter aviation.
