Solomiya Krushelnytska
Solomiya KrushelnytskaHer name is sometimes spelt as Solomiya Ambrosiyivna Krushelnytska, Salomea Krusceniski, Krushel'nytska or Kruszelnicka. (; – November 16, 1952) was a Ukrainian lyric-dramatic soprano, considered to be one of the brightest opera stars of the first half of the 20th century. During her life, Krushelnytska was recognized as the most outstanding singer in the world. Among her numerous awards and distinctions, in particular, the title of "Wagner's diva" of the 20th century. She is credited with rescuing Giacomo Puccini, Puccini's ''Madama Butterfly'' from its failed debut at La Scala. The opera's re-creation in Brescia starring Krushlenytska received widespread acclaim. Johann Georg Pinsel
Johann Georg Pinsel (, ; 1715–1725 – 1761 or 1762) was a Baroque-Rococo sculptor active in Eastern Galicia (then in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, now in Ukraine). Biography Biographical details about him are scarce. He was discovered by and appeared in scholarly literature in 1923 in the monograph of p. "Kościół i klasztor Dominikanów we Lwowie" ("Dominican church and monastery in Lviv"). There is lack of information about the date and place of Pinsel's birth, and little is known about his private life. His first and second name, some facts about his family, and more precise year of death were determined only in 1993, with the discovery of registers of the Buchach Roman Catholic parish. Oleksandr-Zenon Stepanovych Kurbas (; 24 February 1887 – 30 November 1937), was a Ukrainians, Ukrainian movie and theater director. He is considered by many to be the most important Ukrainian theater director of the 20th century. Ivan Yakovych Franko (, ; 27 August 1856 – 28 May 1916) was a Ukrainian poet, writer, social and literary critic, journalist, translator, economist, political activist, doctor of philosophy, ethnographer, and the author of the first detective novels and modern poetry in the Ukrainian language.
