Maria Bergkvist
Maria Bergkvist (born 12 August 1977) is a Swedish football coach and former player who was the manager of Damallsvenskan club Umeå IK. In her playing career she was a defender for Umeå and the Sweden national team. Club career While playing for Umeå between 1999 and 2007 Bergkvist won six Damallsvenskan titles and two UEFA Women's Cups (now known as UEFA Women's Champions League). She returned to the club as an assistant coach in 2009. After five years as an assistant, Bergkvist took the head coach job for Umeå's 2015 campaign. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. Damallsvenskan Players
The Damallsvenskan, Swedish for ''ladies all-Swedish'' and also known as OBOS Damallsvenskan for sponsorship reasons, is the highest division of women's football in Sweden. It is also referred to as the women's Allsvenskan. The term Allsvenskan alone is used to reference the men's division. The division consists of a league of 14 teams. From 2013, the Damallsvenskan began operating on a system of promotion and relegation with the Elitettan. The two lowest placed teams are relegated to the Elitettan, and the two highest placed teams from the Elitettan are promoted in their place. Starting with the 2022 season the league has been expanded from 12 to 14 teams. The first Swedish women's national championship was played in 1973. 2015 Damallsvenskan was the 27th season of the Swedish women's association football top division, Damallsvenskan. It was played between 11 April 2015 and 18 October 2015. FC Rosengård were the defending champions, having won the competition in 2014. They successfully defended their title and together with Eskilstuna United qualified for the 2016–17 UEFA Women's Champions League. AIK and Hammarby were relegated to the 2016 Elitettan. Umeå IK () is a professional association football club based in the city of Umeå, in northern Sweden, and currently playing Damallsvenskan, the first tier of women's football in Sweden.
