Mark Mitchell (American Figure Skater)
Mark Mitchell (born May 2, 1968) is an American retired competitive figure skater. He is a three-time medalist at the United States Figure Skating Championships and placed as high as fourth at the World Figure Skating Championships (in 1993). After retiring from competition, he began work as a coach and choreographer in Boston with his husband, Peter Johansson. As of 2022, he lived in Provincetown with Johansson. Biography Skating career Mitchell was the 1986 U.S. Junior National Champion. He won the bronze medal at the 1990 United States Figure Skating Championships, but was not named to the World team, despite the U.S. having three spots to that competition. Instead, a medical bye was given to Christopher Bowman who withdrew from the competition with a back injury. Mitchell finished 4th at the 1991 United States Figure Skating Championships, again just missing a spot on the World team. The 2008 McDonald's All-American Boys Game was an All-star basketball game played on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks. The game's rosters featured the best and most highly recruited high school boys graduating in 2008. The game was the 31st annual version of the McDonald's All-American Game first played in 1978. The 48 players were selected from 2,500 nominees by a committee of basketball experts. They were chosen not only for their on-court skills, but for their performances off the court as well. Coach Morgan Wootten, who had more than 1,200 wins as head basketball coach at DeMatha High School, was chairman of the selection committee. Mark Mitchell Jr. (born September 1, 2003) is an American college basketball player for the Missouri Tigers of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He previously played for the Duke Blue Devils. Early life and high school career Mitchell grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and initially attended Bishop Miege High School. He averaged 21.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game as a sophomore. Mitchell won the DiRenna Award as the top player in the Kansas City area after averaging 18 points and six rebounds per game as Bishop Miege won the Kansas Class 4A state championship. He transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas prior to the beginning of his senior year. Mitchell averaged 17.6 points with 6.3 rebounds per game in his only year at Sunrise Christian. Mark Mitchell is a Canadian ice dancer who competed with Michelle McDonald of British Columbia. The two placed sixth at the 1988 Skate America, won silver at the 1989 Canadian Championships, and finished 11th at the 1989 World Championships in Paris. The following season, they won silver at the 1989 Skate Canada International, repeated as national silver medalists, and placed 9th at the 1990 World Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Throwdown is an American hardcore and heavy metal band from Orange County, California. Formed in 1997, the band has endured numerous lineup changes to the point where no original members remain.
