Manzurul Alam
Manzurul Alam ndc, psc is a retired major general of the Bangladesh Army and former chairperson of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. Career Alam was general officer commanding the 11th Infantry Division, Bogra of Bangladesh Army. On 19 April 2007, Alam was appointed the chairperson of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. He announced plans to provide free internet to schools. He approved mergers of telecom companies in Bangladesh but wanted to prevent the creation of monopolies at the same time. He approved policies for VoIP services in Bangladesh and gateway companies. He discussed with Bangladesh Amateur Radio League about providing licenses to amateur radio operators in Bangladesh. He increased the allocated spectrum for three cellphone operators. The Bangladesh Army () is the land warfare branch, and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Major General () is a two star general rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the third-highest active rank of the Bangladesh Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of major general. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) () is an independent commission founded under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act, 2001 (Act no. 18 of 2001). The commission is responsible for regulating all matters related to telecommunications (wire, cellular, satellite and cable) of Bangladesh. The chairman of the commission has the status of a judge of the High Court Division. Since 10 September 2024, Md. Emdad-Ul-Bari has been the chairman of the commission. 11th Infantry Division (Bangladesh)
The 11th Infantry Division () is a formation of the Bangladesh Army. It has the Bogra Cantonment, the Jahangirabad Cantonment and the Qadriabad Cantonment under its command. The Bogra Cantonment is the HQ of this division. History 11th Infantry Division was inaugurated on 29 March 1976 by then chief of army staff Lieutenant General Ziaur Rahman and appointed Major General Abu Zafar Chowdhury as first general officer commanding. It is the second infantry division of Bangladesh Army.
