Manuela (singer)
Doris Inge Wegener (; 18 August 1943 – 13 February 2001), better known by her stage name Manuela , was a German singer. Background Manuela was born and died in Berlin. She worked in Germany as a singer of Schlager songs. She played in some German films like ''Im singenden Rößl am Königssee'' (1963), '' Twenty Girls and the Teachers'' (1971) and ''Schuld war nur der Bossa Nova'' (1992). Career Paul Seigel reported in the 25 September 1971 issue of '' Record World'' that 2,000,000 German marks had been paid for Manuela, a Telefunken-Decca artist to come to the BASF record label. Lori Lieberman
Lori Lieberman (born November 15, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter who accompanies herself on guitar and piano. She co-wrote and recorded the first version of "Killing Me Softly with His Song", which became a hit single for Roberta Flack in 1973, and again in 1996 with a new arrangement by the Fugees. Lieberman's writing partners and management team of Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel did not assign her credit for helping to write the song, so she did not receive millions of dollars worth of royalties. Lieberman released four studio albums through Capitol Records in the 1970s, in the style of soft rock and folk. After a retreat in 1978, she resumed her recording career in 1995. The Goldene Stimmgabel (English: Golden Tuning Fork) was an annual prize awarded within the German music scene from 1981 to 2007. The prizes were awarded according to the number of records sold from October of the previous year to June of the year of the award, as determined by Media Control. It was established in 1981 by Dieter Thomas Heck, who hosted the television gala award show every year since then. It was broadcast on either ARD or ZDF until the year 2000. From 2001 to 2007 the award show was broadcast by ZDF alone. In 2008, ZDF decided not to present the award and did not announce whether they would be resumed later, discontinued, or replaced with another award. Radio Luxembourg was a multilingual commercial broadcaster in Luxembourg. It is known in most non-English languages as RTL (for Radio Television Luxembourg). The English-language service of Radio Luxembourg began in 1933 as one of the earliest commercial radio stations broadcasting to both the UK and Ireland. The station provided a way to circumvent British legislation which until 1973 gave the BBC a monopoly of radio broadcasting on UK territory and prohibited all forms of advertising over the domestic radio spectrum. Schöneberger Sängerknaben
The Schöneberger Sängerknaben were a German boys' choir from Berlin, named after the . The choir performed with about 30 boys at a time. They wore short black trousers, black blazers with emblems, white shirts and white knee socks. The repertoire initially included German folk songs, Berlin popular songs and Schlager, later also opera choruses and other classical works. Career The Schöneberger Sängerknaben was founded by Gerhard Hellwig on 12 November 1947. Hellwig trained the boys and initially sang with them in old people's homes, hospitals and in Berlin squares. Only two years after its foundation, the then manager of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Heinz Tietjen, brought the choir into his house and engaged it for the performance of the opera Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner.
