Provincial Road 307 (PR 307) is a provincial road in the eastern part of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is part of the La Vérendrye Trail in eastern Manitoba and lies mostly within Whiteshell Provincial Park. Route description PR 307 begins at Provincial Trunk Highway 11 (PTH 11) and heads east approximately , passing through the community of Seven Sister Falls, before entering Whiteshell Provincial Park. It then winds through the west-central region of the park before ending at PTH 44 near Rennie. The western part of PR 307 provides access to the Seven Sisters Falls Generating Station and Whitemouth Falls Provincial Park. Within the Whiteshell, PR 307 provides access to numerous lakes and cottage areas, including Brereton Lake, Dorothy Lake, Nutamik Lake, Betula Lake, White Lake, Otter Falls, and Red Rock Lake. The La Vérendrye Trail (french: Le chemin La Vérendrye) is a series of highways in the Canadian province of Manitoba commemorating the oldest waterway fur-trading route in the province. It is named after Pierre Gaultier de Varennes, sieur de La Vérendrye, an explorer and fur-trader who is often credited as being the first European to visit what is now southern Manitoba. Whiteshell Provincial Park
Whiteshell Provincial Park is a provincial park in southeast Manitoba, approximately east of the city of Winnipeg. The park is considered to be a Class II protected area under the IUCN protected area management categories. It is in size. The park protects areas representative of the Lake of the Woods Ecoregion within the Boreal Shield ecozone. The park's protection also specifically extends to the Tie Creek basin, an area of great spiritual significance to Indigenous peoples. History Whiteshell Provincial Park was designated a provincial park by the Government of Manitoba in 1961. It was one of the first group of parks established the year following the passage of the Manitoba Provincial Parks Act. It runs from an intersection with PTH 59 near Victoria Beach to an intersection with PTH 1. Route description PTH 11 begins at an intersection with PTH 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) in the hamlet of Hadashville, located in the Rural Municipality of Reynolds. Seven Sisters Falls Generating Station
The Seven Sisters Generating Station is a hydroelectric generating station located on the Winnipeg River, in eastern Manitoba near Seven Sisters Falls, Manitoba. The reservoir is called Natalie Lake and is used for recreational boating and fishing. The present capacity of the generating station is 165 megawatts, and in a typical year the station can produce 990 million kilowatt-hours. It is the largest generating station on the Winnipeg River. Power is transmitted over five 115 kV lines to Winnipeg, and sixth and seventh lines to the Whiteshell and on to Kenora, Ontario. The powerhouse is 128 metres long. The total discharge of water from the station is 1,146 cubic metres per second, with a total drop from forebay to tailrace of 18.6 metres. The station has a 225 metre-long spillway. Whitemouth Falls Provincial Park
Whitemouth Falls Provincial Park is a provincial park located where the Whitemouth River joins the Winnipeg River in Manitoba, Canada. It was designated as a Provincial Park in 1974. Significant archaeological assets are found within the park including three burial grounds. The Seven Sisters Generating Station built in 1931 on the Winnipeg River can be easily seen from the park. Angling is a popular park activity with catch including walleye, lake whitefish and northern pike. Other fish present in the park waters include sauger, rock bass, yellow perch, catfish and mooneye. The park is in size. Its boundaries were extended in 2007 to include an additional of black spruce and tamarack bog on the north side of the Winnipeg River while reducing the area on the south side of the river by .
