The Manhunters are a fictional race of extraterrestrial robots that appear in titles published by DC Comics. Publication history The broader history behind the alien robot species covered in this article was introduced in ''Justice League of America'' #140 (March 1977), in a story by Steve Englehart and Dick Dillin. Fictional character biography Interstellar police The Manhunters are the first attempt of the Guardians of the Universe to create an interstellar Police agency, police force that could combat evil all over the cosmos. Their name and much of their code of behavior is modeled by the Guardians of the Universe on the Martian Manhunter, Manhunters of Ma'aleca'andra (Mars) millions of years ago. George Pérez
George Pérez (; June 9, 1954 – May 6, 2022) was an American comic book artist and writer, who worked primarily as a penciller. He came to prominence in the 1970s penciling ''Fantastic Four (comic book), Fantastic Four'' and ''The Avengers (comic book), The Avengers'' for Marvel Comics. In the 1980s, he penciled ''New Teen Titans, The New Teen Titans'', which became one of DC Comics' top-selling series. He penciled DC's landmark limited series ''Crisis on Infinite Earths'', followed by relaunching ''Wonder Woman (comic book), Wonder Woman'' as both writer and penciller. In the meantime, he worked on other comics published by Marvel, DC, and other companies into the 2010s. He was known for his detailed and realistic rendering, and his facility with complex crowd scenes. Among the many characters Pérez created or co-created are Cyborg (DC Comics), Cyborg, Raven (DC Comics), Raven, Starfire (Teen Titans), Starfire, Deathstroke, and the Nightwing identity of Dick Grayson. Olympian Gods (DC Comics)
The Olympian Gods are characters based upon classical mythology who appear primarily in ''Wonder Woman'', ''Captain Marvel (DC Comics), Captain Marvel'' and ''Aquaman'' comics. History Pre-Crisis era New era When a Godwave spilled forth from the creation of the Jack Kirby's Fourth World, Fourth World, the Earth was seeded with great power. It first manifested in the form of old gods, then of metahumans. Some of the oldest of these gods were hidden from the universe until the time of ancient Greece by the sorceress, Hecate. Hecate reasoned that the Twelve Olympians, Olympian Gods (as they would eventually be called) were greatly weakened after usurping power from their father Cronus and the Titans of Myth (comics), Titans of Myth. She feared that other powerful gods in the universe (notably Darkseid of Apokolips) would seize Earth for himself.
