Malayalam Hip-hop
Malayalam hip hop is a genre of popular music developed in Kerala starting in around 2004. The term has also come to be used as an alternative for rap music, and even pop music, which involves rappers of South Asian origins. Overview Street Academics were the first ever hip hop band to be established in 2009, in Malayalam hip hop. They started with freestyling. Malayalam hip hop was initially introduced widespread by FEJO and ThirumaLi during the 2018 to 2019 period, they played significant role in introducing the genre among the Malayali community. FEJO's first debut release in 2018 "Vere Level" and ThirumaLi's first debut hit "Malayali Da," in 2019, marked the onset of Malayalam rap. Dabzee
Mohammed Fasil, (born 30 May 1991), known professionally as Dabzee, is an Indian rapper, singer and songwriter from Kerala. He is well known for his film debut as a rapper with the song " Manavaalan Thug" from the movie ''Thallumaala'' ''.'' Personal life Fasil was born in Malappuram district, Malappuram, Kerala. Following his marriage, he relocated to the United Arab Emirates where he initially pursued work in a conventional job. However, his passion for music led him to quit his job and started his focus towards rapping and music making. Gully Rap
Gully rap is an emerging genre of Hip hop music, hip-hop music that originated from Mumbai. It has since spread across India. Inspired by Americans, American Rapping, rappers like Tupac Shakur, Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G. and Nas, the music discusses the street life in distinct Hindustani language, Hindu-Urdu rhythm and cadence. ''Gully'' means "narrow lane" in Hindi. DIVINE (rapper), DIVINE and Naezy are artists that are considered at the forefront of the genre. It stands in contrast to mainstream ''desi'' rap or Hindi cinema, Bollywood which focus on more superficial aspects of life (e.g. partying, alcohol). Sanju Jaison (born 1 October 1988), better known by his stage name San Jaimt, is an Indian rapper, songwriter and a music producer . He has worked in Malayalam cinema projects and is one of the early rappers to come out of Kerala. Neeraj Madhav (born 26 March 1990) is an Indian actor and rapper who predominantly works in Malayalam film industry Early life Neeraj was born on 26 March 1990, in Kozhikode, Kerala into a Malayali family.
