Apes & Androids
Apes & Androids was an American electropop band formed in 2007 and based in Brooklyn. It includes former members of Call Florence Pow. The band became known for its extravagant live shows which included dancers dressed as zombies, and their mix of glam rock and electropop. Their debut album ''Blood Moon'' was released in 2008. Apes & Androids disbanded in 2009. Some members of the band went on to create solo projects. Most notably Chrome Canyon (Morgan Whirledge) and Majestyy Majestyy is the solo project of Brian Jacobs. Electropop
Electropop is a popular music fusion genre combining elements of the electronic and pop styles. It has been described as a variant of synth-pop with emphasis on a hard electronic sound. The genre was developed in the 1980s and saw a revival of popularity and influence in the late 2000s. The genre is often confused with electro, which is sometimes called electro-pop but is a separate genre which incorporates funk and early hip hop. Dance Music
Dance music is music composed specifically to facilitate or accompany dancing. It can be either a whole piece or part of a larger musical arrangement. In terms of performance, the major categories are live dance music and recorded dance music. While there exist attestations of the combination of dance and music in ancient history (for example Ancient Greek vases sometimes show dancers accompanied by musicians), the earliest Western dance music that we can still reproduce with a degree of certainty are old-fashioned dances.
