Mahavavy River
The Mahavavy or Mahavavy-Nord River is a river of northern Madagascar in the region of Diana. It has its sources at the Maromokotra peak in the Tsaratanana Massif and flows north to the Indian Ocean. The main city along the river is Ambilobe at the National Road 6. The bridge of this road had collapsed after the passage of cyclone Gamane in March 2024. In May local authorities held 2 ''jôro'' (traditional rites) hoping this will repair it but in June of the same year the road was still closed. Diana is a region in Madagascar at the northern part of the island. It borders the regions of Sava to the southeast and Sofia to the southwest. Manambato
Manambato is a municipality (, ) in Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Ambilobe, which is a part of Diana Region. It is situated at the Mahavavy River. Ambilobe which means "Where there are many plantations" is an urban municipality in Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Ambilobe, which is a part of Diana Region. The town is the capital of Ambilobe district, and according to 2018 census the population was approximately 62,346. Geography It is situated at the Mahavavy River and the Route Nationale 6 at its junction with the Route Nationale 5a to the Sava region. Route nationale 6 (RN6) is a primary highway in Madagascar of 706 km, running from Antsiranana to Ambondromamy. It crosses the regions of Diana Region, Diana and Sofia Region, Sofia. 2023–24 South-West Indian Ocean Cyclone Season
The 2023–24 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season was an above-average season, including ten named storms (including an unnamed tropical storm), six tropical cyclones and two intense tropical cyclones. Despite its moderate activity, it was the least deadly season in four years, causing only 53 deaths, most of which were caused by cyclones Alvaro and Gamane. It began on 15 November 2023, and ended on 30 April 2024, with the exception for Mauritius and the Seychelles, where it ended on 15 May 2024. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when most tropical and subtropical cyclones form in the basin, which is west of 90°E and south of the Equator. Cotton
