Mahavajiravudh Songkhla School
Mahavajiravudh Songkhla School ( th, โรงเรียนมหาวชิราวุธ, link=no) is a well known educational institution located in Songkhla, southern Thailand. History Mahavajiravudh Songkhla School is the oldest school in Songkhla province. It was established by Chaophraya Yommarat (Pan Sukhum), the governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, on 27 October 1896 as an all-boys school. The project was funded by donations from residents, and the school was named as a mark of respect towards the Crown Prince Vajiravudh. The school was converted into a co-educational school in 1995. Songkhla
Songkhla ( th, สงขลา, ), also known as Singgora or Singora ( Pattani Malay: ซิงกอรอ), is a city ('' thesaban nakhon'') in Songkhla Province of southern Thailand, near the border with Malaysia. Songkhla lies south of Bangkok and as of 2020 had a population of 61,758. Despite being smaller than the neighboring city Hat Yai, Songkhla is the capital of Songkhla Province as well as the Mueang Songkhla District (Songkhla town district). Together with Hat Yai, Songkhla is part of the Greater Hat Yai-Songkhla Metropolitan Area (a conurbation with a population of around 800,000), the third largest metropolitan area in Thailand. Southern Thailand, Southern Siam or Tambralinga is a southernmost cultural region of Thailand, separated from Central Thailand region by the Kra Isthmus. Geography Southern Thailand is on the Malay Peninsula, with an area of around , bounded to the north by Kra Isthmus, the narrowest part of the peninsula. The western part has highly steep coasts, while on the east side river plains dominate. Chaophraya Yommarat (Pan Sukhum)
Pan Sukhum ( th, ปั้น สุขุม), better known by the noble title Chaophraya Yommarat (, 1862 – 30 December 1938), was a Thai government official who served several senior positions under the governments of kings Chulalongkorn (Rama V) and Vajiravudh (Rama VI). Born in Suphan Buri, Pan was raised as a novice Buddhist monk in Bangkok and left the monkhood to join government service around the age of 21, becoming a teacher at the royal palace school and then a tutor to Chulalongkorn's children studying in England, where he served as a diplomat for 11 years. Nakhon Si Thammarat
Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality ( th, เทศบาลนครนครศรีธรรมราช, ; from Pali ''Nagara Sri Dhammaraja'') is a municipality (''thesaban nakhon'') in Southern Thailand, capital of Nakhon Si Thammarat province and Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat district. It is about south of Bangkok, on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula. The city was the administrative center of southern Thailand during most of its history. Originally a coastal city, silting moved the coastline away from the city. Vajiravudh
Vajiravudh ( th, วชิราวุธ, , 1 January 188126 November 1925) was the sixth monarch of Siam under the Chakri dynasty as Rama VI. He ruled from 23 October 1910 until his death in 1925. King Vajiravudh is best known for his efforts to create and promote Siamese nationalism. His reign was characterized by Siam's movement further towards democracy and minimal participation in World War I. He had keen interests in Siamese history, archaeology, and literature, as well as economics, politics and world affairs, and founded the country's first university, Chulalongkorn University. Prem Tinsulanonda ( th, เปรม ติณสูลานนท์, , ; 26 August 1920 – 26 May 2019) was a Thai military officer, politician, and statesman who served as the Prime Minister of Thailand from 3 March 1980 to 4 August 1988, during which time he was credited with ending a communist insurgency and presiding over accelerating economic growth. As president of the Privy Council, he served as Regent of Thailand from the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej on 13 October 2016, until the 1 December 2016 proclamation of Vajiralongkorn as King. Siddhi Savetsila ( th, สิทธิ เศวตศิลา, , , 7 January 1919 – 5 December 2015) was a Thai air force officer and politician. After finishing his military career with the rank of air chief marshal, he served as the foreign minister of Thailand from 1980 to 1990.
