''Made in Britain'' is a 1983 British television play written by David Leland and directed by Alan Clarke. It follows a 16-year-old racist skinhead and his constant confrontations with authority figures. It was broadcast on ITV on 10 July 1983 as the fourth in an untitled series of works by Leland (including '' Birth of a Nation''), about different aspects of the British educational system, which subsequently acquired the overall title of ''Tales Out of School''. It marked Tim Roth's television debut. Plot Trevor has been charged for throwing a brick at the window of a Pakistani man, Mr. Shahnawaz. Trevor's social worker, Harry Parker, takes him to Hooper Street Residential Assessment Centre, where his punishment will be determined. Alan Clarke
Alan John Clarke (28 October 1935 – 24 July 1990) was an English television and film director, producer and writer. Life and career Clarke was born on 28 October 1935, in Wallasey. Most of Clarke's output was for television rather than cinema, including work for the famous play strands ''The Wednesday Play'' and ''Play for Today''. His subject matter tended towards social realism, with deprived or oppressed communities as a frequent setting. As Dave Rolinson's book details, between 1962 and 1966 Clarke directed several plays at The Questors Theatre in Ealing, London. Skinnyman (born Alexander Graham Holland, 9 November 1974) is a British rapping, rapper who was born in Chapeltown, West Yorkshire, Chapeltown Leeds, Yorkshire and moved to Finsbury Park (area), Finsbury Park, London at a young age. He is best known for his sole album ''Council Estate of Mind''. Biography Skinnyman was born in 1974 in Chapeltown, Leeds. He moved to London with his mother and two siblings at the age of ten. The family lived on the Six Acres Estate next to Andover Estate. Among his friends was fellow Leeds-born, London-raised Cornwall DJ Pat Mckay. In the early 1990s he was part of The Bury Crew. Later he formed the Mud Family with Mongo, Chester P and Farma G. The group which released a number of EPs including the Mud Family EP in 2002. ''Council Estate of Mind'' is the debut studio album by England, English rapper Skinnyman, released on 9 August 2004 by Low Life Records. It was produced by DJ Flip, Stoned Soldiers, Adam M, and others. The album makes use of samples from ''Made in Britain'', a United Kingdom, British film from the early 1980s. The album spent two weeks on the UK Albums Chart, peaking at number 65. Release and legacy Skinnyman self-recorded the album, taking it to Low Life Records for a formal release. Label owner Joseph Christie, also known as Braintax, shut down the label a few years after the release of ''Council Estate of Mind'', disappearing without compensating Skinnyman with album royalties. ''Scum'' is a 1977 British television play written by Roy Minton and directed by Alan Clarke. It was intended to be screened as part of the ''Play for Today'' series. Instead the production was banned by the BBC after it was completed in 1977 and not aired until BBC 2 showed it on 27 July 1991. In the interim, a theatrical film version was released in 1979. The original version features Ray Winstone (in one of his earliest roles), John Blundell, David Threlfall, Martin Phillips, Phil Daniels and Davidson Knight. Plot Three young delinquents, Carlin, Davis and Angel, are escorted via van to a British borstal. Christopher Fulford (born 1955) is a British actor who is best known for his supporting roles in many British TV shows, one of the earliest being punk Alex in the short lived sitcom '' Sorry, I'm a Stranger Here Myself'' (1981–82). Career Fulford was born in London.
